People have been litterally saying that Nintendo is doomed and going third party since the nes days, look it up and you'll find tons of old posts.

But I'm mature enough to know that it doesn't matter if Nintendo still makes hardware or not. Console wars are for kids, if tomorrow Halo is on PS4, meh, don't give a shit...

If Uncharted is on Xbox One, don't care either, Mario on PC? Why not? It's their business decision, I just care about playing games.

We need competition, Nintendo can't go Third Party.

Hey, we can dream, can't we?

Nintendo doesn't have to go "third party".

They can keep making Switch and Switch-like hardware.

Mario & Zelda can appear on Playstation/XBox the same way they are going to appear on iOS/Android ... Nintendo can pick specific titles for those platforms. In return perhaps Sony or MS could also provide Switch hardware.

I could see that.

Why do iOS/Android get Nintendo IP? They are basically as much of a competitor to Switch (maybe more) than PS4/XB1 are.

Putting a few Nintendo IP on PS/XB platforms could help boost Switch sales by introducing a different group of gamers to their main IP, just like iOS/Android games do on smartphones.

Switch is a mainly portable platform, Sony/MS are not competing with Switch.

If Nintendo ever went third party, it will not be before at least 2030 since even from their worst selling console they made a profit so it would take a lot to make them go third party. I honestly think that before Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft have more of a chance at going third party since it'll become harder and harder to differentiate between the two while Nintendo will always have their place and could resurge any moment.

Just a guy who doesn't want to be bored. Also

I don't think playstation fans and xbox fans would buy a Zelda game.

It would probably sell 1 millions but not more. Not worth the try.

People vastly overestimate Zelda's popularity.

Would Pokemon sell that well? Probably. Would Mario sell that well? Depends on whether it is 3D or 2D. But there is no chance in hell Zelda would sell that well.

Would it really be "third party" if Nintendo is still a 1st party hardware maker?

If they keep making the Switch but just give the PS/XBox platforms a couple of games here and there like they do for iPhone/Android ... what is that?

It's not third party.

Switch can co-exist with PS4/XB1/PS4 Pro/Scorpio/PS5.

Totally different audiences and totally different hardware types.

If Sony was making a Vita 2 then then there would be a problem, but they're not.
