Can that be done? Has it been done in the past?

Mods have never been done in the past on console. After Stuxnet I'll never again underestimate what coders can do, if they are passionate enough or have a big team/budget then I'm sure anything is possible.

Stuxnet? You're referring to a government-funded cyber warfare effort?

I highly doubt there's a state looking to sabotage gamer's gaming sessions.

Nexusmods was down almost all day yesterday, there's some insane traffic going on right now. Just shows how massive mods are, I'm pretty sure that the vast majority of late sales of games like this is due to the possibilities with mods. I currently have around 90 active mods and plugins now on Skyrim, but I'll do a clean install some time and go balls to the walls and create an insane looking, insane playing Skyrim to be proud of!

Aye, the traffic got so high that they had to shut fof downloads using NMM XD. I was wondering why the hell half my mods I lined up the other night weren't downloading.

Just a few days since launch, we already have the Static mesh improvement mod up: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/659/?

I've already got a load of mods installed from NM as well as Bethesda.net. Hell of a lot faster than what I was going with in early 2013. Still waiting on LOOT to be updated for SSE support, though so far I've been fine without it.

The cool thing about Skyrim being on a 64-bit engine means the modding capabilities will be limitless on PC (consoles to a degree). That means hardly much slowing down to a crawl like OG Skyrim .

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

One that dates back to 2010 and had nothing to do with gaming as well. I don't see X1 getting crippled deliebrately on purpose by modders.

Good luck to Xbox live when someone dresses up a virus as an item of lingerie for your companion.

Can that be done? Has it been done in the past?

No issues with Fallout 4 :).  Then again sometimes if you want to go into the lingerie the risk of virusses doesn't worry =p

I'm gonna get the special edition later and mod it like a crazy man, really push that GPU for all its worth! Mods are a godsend, brings so much to games, Bethesda have been really smart to make modding easy and relatively trouble free.

Yeah, and the Bethesda source will be heavily moderated... so no naughty mods there ;)

Ha.  Of course I've known in general that a PC is the way to go for mods.  And going off on a tangent, does the Xbox One version allows access to Nexusmods?

No and it would be unwise to do so.  You see, PC modding js very different.  More things are open to change.  So you can install some tools that other mods will use, like Skyrim Script Extender.  Since consoles cannot work in this way, all mods that require it would at best not work and at worst crash the game.  Since Nexus is built around PC modding, theres a ton of these mods.  If it were linked to Xbone, mod creators would be flooded with careless people who broke their games by not reading the description.  Also, since everything done with console versions of games is kinda sorta officially sanctioned, Bethesda doesn't want ot be liable for any content on Nexus.  Obviously relates to nudity and such but also copyrughted content.  It's just better not to.  It's kinda a shame though because the nexus backlog is enormous.

Just as an aside, if you want to research modding for curiosity, Nexus Mods is the largest mod site out there, to my knowledge.  And Moddb can be cool to browse as well.

Thanks. Just speaking for myself the console versions of Skyrim is more than enough for me to justify my purchase. And as I've mentioned in a previous post, having mods gives you more options. Personally, I don't really need nude models but having a plethora of creative garments to choose from enhances the experience for me. But that's just speaking for myself.

Well, nudity is a pretty big thing (Though the popularity of the big "nudity" mods on Skyrim more comes from the fact that those mods provide far, far better character models with options for nudity, underwear, etc so if you want better character models, those are the ones you get), but there are other things that just won't come to consoles.  While the article mentions total conversions being restricted on PS4 due to file size (which is true), mods of that size are also limited by the fact that, if memory serves, I don't believe Xbone and PS4 mods can have .esm files (that is,  new "master" files).  The largest of mods usually have them.  This does block the most ambitious mods, such as Falskaar (iirc).  Also, total conversions wouldn't work anyway because of how they have to work to get around certain limitations.  Enderal - the big Total Conversion for Skyrim - uses a cusom launcher and a special program that converts "Skyrim" to Enderal and then converts it back again when you want to play Skyrim.  Consoles wouldn't allow that anyway.

Not to say there can't be some cool mods on consoles, there certainly can.  Just saying there are a number of limitations inherent in console modding.

Mods were done on PS3....wouldn't say mods were never done on consoles
