If it's successful enough, they might try.
I honestly think Sony is done with handhelds and Microsoft reported a loss in hardware sales. So I think chances are slim.

So? Where does the copying the Switch thing even begin being a thing? Gameboy couldnt connect on TV, by the way, you need a SNES for that. All said, there is just nothing to be copied from the Switch by Sony. |
Gameboy connected on tv, through the SNES. Just like the PSP connected to the TV through a cable. Sony just made use of the more advanced technology when the PSP launched because they were so behind on Nintendo when it came to handheld gaming.

Good analogy.

There's also the fact that Nintendo fans know the NS HAS to succeed or Nintendo staying in the HW business is cast in doubt, so I'm sure they're all rushing to that vid and giving it the thumbs up. |
I doubt Sony fans weren't doing the same with the PS4 reveal.
I doubt it. Both Sony and Microsoft have basically been building custom PCs for their home console for a while now. I don't see them trying anything different.

The idea isn't a new one.

But, according to you, it's "clunky anf needs 2 systems" so it isn't exactly the same. With Switch, you only need one.
I might add that I don't have the intention to accuse any company of stealing ideas. This is not what this is about. Nintendo copies ideas, too.
For me, the main concept is not the ability to take the thing off the TV, but the controllers. Detachable and changeable controllers give developers a possibility of having custom controllers for specific games, which gives plenty of new ways to create games.

there's nothing to be copied here honestly. I do wish Sony would make a new handheld that had phone capabilities, but I don't think that's going to happen.
Sony can already use remote play in some cell phones. Anyway, I don't see why Sony, having succes in ps4 would die to copy nintendo which is coming out of a crisis with a yet unproven device

This is NOT the same as the Nintendo Switch (and we don't even know all the information yet, so stop pretending this is all the Switch is). You do realize you could already play GAMEBOY games on the SNES with the Super Game Boy (1994)? So if anything, Nintendo certainly was the first. The idea is just fully realized now, and again, Nintendo is the first that's doing so. |
*sigh...I want to pay PSP games on big screen that's who!! I did play it on the big screen and I enjoyed the heck out of that feature so don't talk like you know how everybody wants to play their games! You can even youtube vids that there's enough people that like to hook up their PSP to TVs.
And no, nobody's pretending that this is all the Switch is but you can dam be sure that the hybrid is a HUGE part of what the Switch is as what Nintendo has already shown us. So how about you dont pretend that the Switch is something way way more than just a hybrid. I'm basing off facts, you're just basing of speculations and hoping that its more than just a hybrid. Tell me, what are you basing that the Switch is more than just a hybrid? You stop pretending.
And no, i've stated this before, the Gameboy Adapter isn't the same. It requires two different gaming devices and an add-on, whereas the Switch is just a single device with a single library of games. If anything Sega is the first and the original single hybrid device with the Sega Nomad. And the Gameboy adapter may have released in 94, while the Nomad in 95. But you can be sure that Sega was making the Nomad around the same time Nintendo did with GB adapter. Possibly even sooner since the Nomad was a full device while the the GB adapter was just..an adapter that probably didnt take as long to make compared to the Nomad.
Geez, what's up with these Nintendo fans that think Nintendo invented everything. Hell I use to be a big Nintendo fan since the NES, with most of my gaming life revolved around Nintendo but even I know that there are somethings that were innovative that wasnt by Nintendo. Give credit where it's suppose to be given. geez...
