Forums - Nintendo - Could Smash Bros skip the Nintendo Switch?

so it seems like as th eSwitch gets closer and closer to release, the more popular Wii U games are getting 1 of 2 treatments. They either get a 3DS port, or a Switch port. If you dont believe me, heres a look at a complete list of Wii U games that have been (or will be) ported.

Nintendo 3DS

Hyrule Warriors (same exact game)

Yoshi's Woolly World (same game but with exclusive content)

Super Mario Maker (same game but without uploading)

Mario Sports Superstars (includes Tennis, making Ultra Smash basically pointless)

Nintendo Switch

Splatoon (enhanced port with more maps and customizations)

Mario Kart 8 (enhanced port with better mechanics and new characters)

now that brings us to Smash Bros, which appeared on both the Wii U and 3DS. both games are nearly identical. they have the same cast of characters, mechanics, items, etc. so you could basically say that Smash Bros already has a 3DS port and that they are done with it. another way to look at is - if they announced Switch ports of MK8 and Splatoon, then why not announce a Smash Bros port? you could argue that thye are still working on the port and couldnt show it off, but they said the whole point of announcing it this late was to make sure they had the games and software ready. another point is that amiibos were shown in the Switch trailer, meaning they will definitely return. also, several Smash Bros amiibo have still yet ot come out, so it would make sense to have the Switch support them. besides, Smash Bros makes up half of all maiibos, so it would just be money lost.

What do you guys think about this. will Smash Bros be on the Switch, or not?

I'm not entirely sold on the fact that Splatoon and Mario Kart are in fact enhanced ports and not new games.

Yep, Smash Bros will definitely be on the Switch.

Mario Kart better just be an enhanced port, it looks identical to MK8. They better not try and sell it as "Mario Kart 9!!!"

Let's face it though, a lot of racing  look practically the same with small enhancements. New characters and racing mechanics is pretty different.

I don't think neither splatoon nor MK8 are coming to the switch, that said no chance in hell smash skips it, if you mean a smash 4 port then yes, but the next smash bross will be on it for sure

in all fairness though, that would have been the weakest announcement of a new Mario Kart game ever. we got about 10 seconds of gameplay footage

Well, all the games shown had weak announcements, at least 1st party wise. I mean, they showed a 3d Mario, and the girl took it with her to a rooftop party and split the the controllers and played two players. I doubt that Mario game is 2 players. So maybe that teaser is just bad at showing games.

I've said this before and I'm still standing by it. I think Smash Bros SHOULD NOT come to Smash Bros until they fix their online mode. The Online mode suffers lag ALOT....

Most Mario games have multiplayer, in fact the latest 3D Mario was heavily focused on the 4-player multiplayer.

I actually doubt the game won't have multiplayer.

No behind the shoulder 3rd person game. It would be the first split screen Mario.

Or it's just terrible advertising.
