Forums - PC - My Windows 10 is loading to desktop but almost nothing works

No program works, I can only open folders. Same thing was happening yesterday evening, but after several restarts all went back to normal. This morning I turn PC on and it's that sh!t again. Worst part is I have cleaned up my system SSD in Disk Cleanup by removing old Windows installations and stuff. I can't believe this is happening in 2016. If I have to reinstall everything including 50 gig GTAV I rather give up on PC gaming.

You're better off asking on a forum such as Tom's Hardware.

I didn't get anything from that description. I get enough "nothing works but I will not tell you any exact symptoms, now fix it!" at work.

But remember this general rule: Games belong on a separate drive or at least partition. Keeps your games no matter how many times you reinstall your OS. And reinstalling your OS is quite fast if you keep the important stuff in backups. Don't blame PC gaming if you don't stick to the rules.

Well GTAV is the only game I installed on my system SSD because I wanted that extra speed. And now I will probably have to regret doing that.

Sounds strange if the OS works on some boots but not others... did you install anything recently? software/hardware, do you have usb storage attached to the PC, would remove that during boot to make sure it's okay... do you have any game controllers or additional mouse/keyboards attached which might be on the floor possibly sending input to the PC to interfere with use.

I'm almost certain that it is a software problem, not hardware. I will try reinstalling Win 10 today.

I reinstalled Windows. Now I see what the people who say that Win 10 is a horrible experience mean. Didn't even give me a clue what the problem was.
