That seems kinda low tbh considering how it has been over 1TB compatibility for phones for some time now... Specially since Nvidia is making all the hardware. Should have been at a minimum of 200gb+ imo but oh well. I suppose since it is Nintendo, the size of the games won't be stupid.

It had better support at least that, because digital is the future (in both good and bad), and Nintendo too would do well to embrace digital distribution. Preferably it should support even more (assuming such memory cards are common enough).

Nintendo is the weakest console maker about digital, and they don't even make progress about it :

 

It wouldn't be that surprising to see them being late for one more generation.

Yeah, I follow him on Twitter and saw that tweet (among many others related to the subject). Digital distribution is huge, and it ought to be especially important to portable devices like Switch. Physical media is OK when you're at home, but when you're going somewhere, you just don't want to have to carry games as well with out.

And, for the record, the same person who reported this is reporting that the dock won't support external HDDs at all because it goes against the "portable" branding. Which is bull. An external HDD goes against portability, but lugging around 20 game cards everywhere you go because you have no digital space is the absolute pinnacle of convenience. /s

Digital is far more important on portable tech than it is on stationary tech.

Theres a reason those 50 GB blu-rays can install games that end up 70-100 GB.... They have compression too.

Also, where did anyone read that the game cards were 64GB? Every report I've read has said that both the game cards and the internal memory were only 32GB. That 64GB number is, as far as I know, completely made up.

Why should there be a 128 GB limit? Micro SDXC supports up to 2 TB (theoretically) and 200 GB-cards are already getting real cheap.
