Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo: "You shouldn’t assume what you saw on the video represents actual Switch game footage"

At the beginning of the trailer: "This video doesn't represent actual game footage. It is only intended for the introduction of Nintendo's new home gaming system. Further specifics on software for the system will be provided later."

It would had been nice if they included a disclaimer like this. >:)

“Simple minds have always confused great honesty with great rudeness.” - Sherlock Holmes, Elementary (2013).

"Did you guys expected some actual rational fact-based reasoning? ...you should already know I'm all about BS and fraudulence." - FunFan, VGchartz (2016)

Its a standard practice that commercials never use actual video running on whatever device is being shown. Its always adding in during editing. So I don't understand why people are like, whaaaaa?

Because someone during post willingly had the game video footage at 12fps, for unknown reasons. It was captured during a way later time, on dev machines. So there is NO REASON for it to be running at bad FPS, like that. This comerical was designed and planned months in advanced. And for some reason. People recorded footage at low FPS, for what? To make the console play like ass? The only thing I can think of. The footage that was recorded was too short. So they had to slow it down. To line up to the switch material. Either way. Both opinions are bad.

You know, after the trailer me and the fellas in my office gathered to talk a bit about the Switch. One of the first comments was "Yeah, the gameplay was definitely added in post so we'll have to see what they really look like on the console" and no one batted an eye or became outraged. It was entirely expected.

Companies do this all the time. You can't film such a crisp and clear image from a screen like that, and of course they're not letting some rando actors and actresses get their hands on a new Mario game. Why are we all acting so shocked? Does everyone really have to get into panic mode or defensive mode at every little comment? Chill out people.

The skyrim HD footage....
That wasnt actually running on a switch, it was just a Video (taken from a High End PC) right?

Yes, for sure, but there is a huge difference between "game footage not final" and "you shouldn't assume this is game footage".

Jesus Christ Nintendo...smh

It just means the skyrim footage was a video taken from a High end PC,.... and you shouldnt assume it actually gets Skyrim, or it can run skyrim like that.

What the hell... Does that mean that Mario footage is not real?

It was just a figment of our imaginations

I refuse to believe that.

I think the mario they showed was from a real game.

Its just its in developement still, not running on the switch hardware.

I mean, obviously. Almost none of those games even had a HUD.

Like I said, they weren't revealing games. They were revealing the console. If the intention was to show the games then you'd have something. But nothing like games were promised. They don't want to show games so they aren't going to. There is a clear disclaimer. If you were to hypthetically sue them for this ad you would lose. They clearly stated at the end that the images were not final and do not represent games on the console. They did nothing wrong. They aren't getting a free pass because they were clear cut on their intentions

Nevertheless some people aren't getting tired to use this footage to prove that the graphics of the Switch are on par with the PS4 or at least the XBO. And this propaganda has been going on for days.

Those sorts of people aren't very smart. We know nothing about the NS besides its look, its gimmick, and release window. Nothing on specs is going to be revealed until next year. Maybe it is on par with PS4 and X1, we don't know. But using this commercial as an argument that it is won't help. Just ignore people who use the commercial as evidence towards the NS' power

I think people are reading too much into this. Nintendo only wants to reveal their console this year and because that they only showed placeholder games like MK8 and such. Even the actor who worked on set said the TVs and such were blank. The footage was added after the fact. The intention was only to show off the console, not the games. Similar to the Wii U Zelda demo

Yeah but with 5 months until the release they should have at least some games to show us. If their plan really is to just show the Switch, have developers say that their games might not be on the console and tell people to not assume that they'll get the games that they showed and then stay silent for another 2 months, then there will of course be a lot of problems.

It just means the actors weren't playing in the clip and the screen was black.

they even messed up the cut here
