Forums - Nintendo - Unannounced Switch Features?

The's currently speculation that the right JC has IR pointer functions, I also wonder if the scroll wheel shoulder buttons make it into the final design.

Vertical screen, and you can put in the joy-cons in the other side of the tablet, and it could work like a 2DS. Compatible with DS and 3DS games when on the go.
Vantages:
-A big library of games
-it can receive sun & moon and other new 3DS games, making them still relevant, even for the new console.
-They dont put 3DS on TV because of handheld philosophy of the games, they are build for handhelds. And you only can play this way on the go, so the philosophy remains.
-Run a 3DS game should be easy for the system than a full specs switch game, so the battery life should be greater in this mode.

New rumors from Emily on twitter state the right joy-con has IR which may relate to that patent.

Additionally, I think they'll show multi-touch, android OS/App support (or similar), limited BC (All VC plus some way of doing digital 3DS/WiiU), and motion (think Wiimote+).

HDMI switcher and pass through on the dock.

Nov 2016 - NES outsells PS1 (JP)

Don't Play Stationary 4 ever. Switch!

I doubt it will be used. It looks like Nintendo cut down the fat on their console.
Does the switch even have a camera?

Maybe there will be an expensive LCD screen that will have this feature. Sooooo it isn't forcing everyone to use and pay this feature.

Pocky Lover Boy!

The goal of the reveal video was to focus on core gamers who would like a new way to play games, especially Nintendo games. More casual gaming aspects weren't shown. I doubt the projector/Kinnect will be part of the final product this time around, but touch screen and motion-control/ir pointing almost assuredly will. There will be other unique aspects as well.

That's more or less what I'm thinking. I don't quite see any sort of projector happening though they could really surprise me.

Whatever they go with I'm hoping it's practical and has mass appeal.

Something we haven't seen, but was part of the Switch patents, is other options for Joy-cons. They seem to really emphasize the "click" of connecting the controllers in the branding.  I think this will be taken a step further with other control options, and could extend to unique interfaces such as cameras, projectors or other novelties.  I could see a projector-based game bundled with the accessory, with a big casual marketing push. We also haven't seen how Just Dance will play on the system...

I think it will run Android apps but through their own custom OS. Nintendo has been humbled and realizes they can't make people choose against apps.

Plus Nikkei is almost always correct in the end (even when Nintendo denies it). I trust their track record. Beyond that, there's good money for Nintendo to make off Android apps. They will simply just offer them through their eShop where they can control how many apps and which apps are available, and they can take home a 30% cut of those apps.

It will also save Nintendo on functionality cost. For example, why waste developer resources making a video or MP3 player when there are dozens that are available on Android. It would also give the system all the popular social media apps like Facebook/Twitter/Instagram overnight.
