Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo is committing a lot of the same lethal mistakes they did with the WiiU, and more.

Nothing to add.
NS will fail harder than the WiiU.

I think it's too early to tell if that will be the case.

Three months after 2017 comes around should be plenty time to answer any outstanding questions or do you feel this insufficient?

It's not like they are releasing a game and are afraid of spoilers. After the PS4 and Xbox one were announce customers knew exactly what to expect. Especially with hte backlash against Microsoft with the DRM, Kinect 2.0  and Xbox one being less powerful than PS4.

This holding back of details could just be a ploy to foment even more online discussion.

I present this thread and others as evidence that it's working.

When the wii u was first revealed nobody knew what the fk it was. Jimmy Fallon on his show even announced it was an add on for the wii during a reveal that was supposed to give the thing massive exposure in the us

While this teaser does (deliberately I suspect) leave many unanswered questions, it does a pretty good job of showing us the basic concept of what the machine is and it's got people talking (I admit some of that talk is negative but any publicity is good publicity and haters always gonna hate. Hate. Hate).

God knows what the machine will be like in terms of power, third party support blah blah but it's ridiculous to say Nintendo have learned nothing as a deaf and blind person can see they're trying to address certain issues.

Good to see the cycle has started again

I really really REALLY hope Ninty sells the dock individually too.

That way i can just take the console to my GF's house and put it on a second dock.

I'm actually starting to like the Switch tbh.

It wont even be 3 months next next year lol do people think Nintendo is going to start spilling the beans on January 1st and release the console on March 31st? At best i can see two months of information.

Do you think that´s not enough time? They made the concept clear with a single 3 and half minute Teaser, and that´s actually the hard part to get across and understood by as many people as possible. Actually it´s not a bad thing to send out a clear message and give it time to breath and to not overwhelm also gamers that aren´t checking dedicated news sites and forums on a daily bases. Let´s first cement the concept on people minds.

They made the concept clear but they haven't given the details for people to make a decision - the games? Price? Battery life? Accessories? Power?

I think the point was to make the concept clear, generate interest, and answer all your other questions later. What you are saying is Nintendo accomplished their goal.

Their ultimate goal is to sell the system which they haven't done yet.

That is your goalposts moving for the sake of your point. However, if Nintendo has a plan and they are executing it with success, you are undeniably incorrect.

With that said, yes the ultimate goal is to sell the console but they are clearly taking steps and are being very clear about their steps and the process they are trying to use to sell their console. Other than that, they did accomplish their goal, whether you think that should have been their goal is your debate to fight, but without a doubt, their initial mission is a success.

So far the only "mistake" Nintendo is making is once again rolling the dice with a console that will not compete directly with Sony or M$ in terms of raw power and sharing a similar software library, and is instead betting on its unique features as being the selling point for the console.

The PSP comparison is just lame... the PSP was never intended as a console / handheld hybrid that was replacing the PS2, and it certainly didn't have detachable wireless controllers or support a "pro" style wireless controller to cater to the needs of all types of gamers.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

I didn't move any goal post since I didn't set any - my post was about how the trailer does not have enough information.

And their initial mission is only a success if it's positive interest, which we're not sure about yet. I think they're pushing back details because there's plenty of negatives and want people to mostly remember what they saw in the trailer.
