Forums - Sales - Question about sales

ok so ive been at vg chartz since febuary, and ive checked every weekley sales report since january. but how come vg for example reports 100,000 or so ps3's a week, for the month of febuary which would equal to like 450,000 sold, but ndp reports 284,000 sold?

also, does "others" include africa and latin america?

npd only reports American numbers. While vg has NA, others and japan.

NPD report only number for the United States while VGChartz also has Canada, they are going to vary cause because both npd and vgchartz have different ways of tracking data and neither is 100% accurate.

Sales for europe are hard to come by. Enterbrain also sometimes releases Japanese sales info but I don't know how official they are.

Enterbrain/Famitsu are releasing official Top30 software charts and hardware charts every Friday, but we get them every Wednesday [leaks].

Additionally we are getting every month a monthly Top50 and every year a  yearly Top100 or Top500.

Tracking in Europe is indeed hard, or finding the statistics is anyway.
My domestic contact provides me with revenue only and not lt sales or weekly breakdowns unfortunately...
That makes me a sad pope indeed, I kinda promised to help get better coverage in the Nordic market.
I am working on it though!

Thanks for this, it is quite interesting how well it is tracked in certain countries, but it is impossible to get the same percentage in a huge country like America
