Samsung fails to kill video of GTAV Galaxy Note 7 bomb

Samsung this week tried, and failed, to take down a YouTube video depicting a Grand Theft Auto V mod that makes fun of its notoriously problematic Galaxy Note 7 smartphone.

The mod replaces the game's sticky bomb weapon with a model resembling the Note 7; the video in question depicts user "sdaddy345" blowing up a range of vehicles with the modded weapon.

Earlier in the week, the video was taken down via a copyright demand attributed to Samsung, generating widespread derision towards the company.

Sdaddy345 filed a counter-claim, however, which appears to have worked, since the video is now back online on their YouTube channel Modded Games.

That is amazing, by coming out and fighting things like this where people have a laugh about a very bad mistake they made it's just fanning the flames to encourage other people to make a meme out of it (moreso)

I think the whole thing on the mod's part was ingenious.

This is why DMCA needs fixing. This wouldn't probably be even possible without DMCA. Luckily the video didn't stay down for long, and to be honest, it didn't matter much anyway because they only took down this one video while there were still a ton of others.

Sucks for Samsung, but you can't handle publicity like this. Samsung brought this upon themselves. There's just no excuse for a company of Samsung's size to release products in such a dangerous state. Samsung has more than enough resources to handle development and testing better.
