Forums - Nintendo - So, you lose additional screen in Switch' "Home" mode?

welp, knew there'd be negativity.

No offense but the Wii U failed. Duel screens are amazing, I'll admit that. However, Iwata-san unfortunately made the wrong decisions for the Wii U. Still love the console, but the new nintendo president is more realistic and realizes how 1 screen will make things much easier

Except that the NX design was under Iwata's watch

We talk about Nintendo, baby. Pro controller or Puppy-head will be sold separately.

So then you might not need to buy the puppy-head controller then?

Well, the WiiU is still in stores. We can have both if we want to. I for one felt very undewhelmed with the WiiU experience and am ready to follow Nintendo next direction, really.
But, as I said, to those that loved the WiiU, it still exists.

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

Games will be better on Switch!

Its gonna get Wii U ports anyway!

Pocky Lover Boy!

The Switch will be focusing on one screen that's why. You take the Switch on the go, you use one screen. You dock it to your TV, you use one screen. Makes making the games easier to focus on.

Also you must dock the Switch to use the Home feature so it's not like you can use the Tablet portion while you game on TV anyways. Unless you want them to design a way to that you can hold the Switch and use it as a controller while its still docked/holding the dock? Doesn't seem to work so well.

Rendering for two screens would require extra processing power, or otherwise it would reduce the quality of graphics and possibly some other technical things. Maybe those are tradeoffs you would have made, but I doubt they would've been smart ones. I don't own a Wii U so I don't know for sure, but I have the impression that that controller's screen wasn't used well in very many games. I don't see why it would be different with Switch.

It would also increase porting costs, which is something I'm sure Nintendo wants to avoid. It should already be difficult enough if Switch is less powerful, so there's no need to make it even harder.

Dock station clearly hides the screen. That kinda stupid and lost opportunity for gaming. Correct me if I am wrong, but you have only two control options in "Home" mode: that awful puppy-head transformer and Pro controller (which you need to buy separately).

Wii U looks better and better with every minute after Switch reveal.

Another pointless thread...Switch is one screen concept, not two screen like 3DS or Wii U. Wii U actually totally failed with two screen concept so saying that Wii U looks better than Switch beacuse Switch does not have two screen concept is nonsense. Actualy everything about Switch sounds and look much better than Wii U.

Wii U proved 2 screens for home consoles don't work.

I mean even Nintendo barely used it.

They even improved off-tv play with the Switch.

Sure off-tv was kinda cool, but that alone is just not enough to justify another 2 screen home console.

basically this. Im not sure why anyone would be surprised that Nintendo decided (seemingly) to ditch it going forward

And we still get off-tv play.

Even better than on the Wii U too!

"Puppy head" aka Joy-Con Grip will come with console, with Pro controller will be sold separately.
