Your a DUMBASS, sorry this had to be pointed out. 1st you are using bias figures that try to say that PS3 sales don't count as blu ray sales and that's BS, in fact i wouldn't mind a poll on here of PS3 owners that have at least 1 BD and probably more. I would guess the only ones who don't probably do not have an HDTV, so it wouldn't make sense to invest in BDs yet. They were actually MANY movie buffs, as you put it, that held out on getting a Blu-ray player because the first generation hardware generally sucks and they knew they could get a PS3 cheaper than any other player. As for your second stupid comment, learn how the this tecnology works or expect to get reamed by someone that does. A 51 GB HD-DVD is going to be just as expensive to produce as a dual layer BD, plus there are octal, that's eight, layer BD that, number 1, works on my machine, and number 2, is already made, just not needed or affordable to produce. Plus the new tri-layer HDDVD discs from Toshiba WILL NOT play in todays HDDVD players, so you are in point in fact royally F#CKED if toshiba gets their way and this disc becomes the standard by which all HD DVD will be made.

Blu-ray is winning the HD format war, the format that launched first is now getting owned in sales.

Everyone needs to stop using porn as a point of reference, "Debbie does Dallas...Again" is coming to BD within a mo. or so and I've got it preordered ;) It is also going to HDDVD so you can enjoy it too... Exactly how is HD DVD a superior tech, now that nearly all studios are using VC-1 for xfers instead of any mpeg-2(which most of these suck) the video reproduction is identical and BD still has uncompressed audio that is kick ass on a good 7.1 surround. And yeah, we want it to succeed so we push it whenever we can, and we have the studio support, but oh yeah, you have Universal on your side.... but that's it, your only exclusive, who's contract is up in december, let's see then Xp

It appears that currently Blu-Ray is outselling HD-DVD.
What's the bigger picture though?
Until either HD format becomes that yellow pie-looking thingy that does all the gobbling, Blu-Ray and HD-DVD beating each other is a moot point.

It's a fantastic idea for those who want to start buying next gen movies but can't afford the player yet. Why buy a regular DVD of a movie you want to watch right now knowing that next year you're buying an HDTV?
Anyway, this whole thread is massivly bias. I mean Blu-Ray is winning the battle right now. Congrats.
Personally I was rooting for HD since I thought it pretty lame of Sony to have to resort to using their Playstation brand and all its fans to try and win the battle. It was a smart buisness move, knowing the PS3 would sell millions and thus giving Blu-Ray the upper hand, but it seems kinda sordid of them to use the fans of their gaming department like that. Oh well, gotta hand it to them in the end I guess, lol

Meh, my Wal-Mart has about 30 HD-DVDs, and on the top of each box on about 20 of them, it says "DVD-Playable on reverse side!"
*shrug*
I think I now hate Blu-Ray just because Larry is such a staunch supporter of the format.
