Forums - Gaming - No RDR2 for NX. What does this mean for 3rd party support on NX?

Honestly who really expects mainstream 3rd party support?

Just having niche 3rd party japanese support (nonexistant on Wii U) would be a huge upgrade.

I hope it will be kinda like with the Wii. Not the tons of shovelware, but those cool and unique games it got like Deadly Creatures.

Pandora's Tower, The Last Story, DQX (not on the west T_T), Little King's Story and Murasama FTW.

Now let's try to think those types of games on the Wii U....

Hmmm...

I guess DQX (again not on the west T_T) port could "count" and Fatal Frame.

Seriously, the 3DS just ate all the 3rd party support.

I wouldn't count Tokyo Mirage & 101 since they were paid exclusives.

It means the same it did over the last 20 years: don't buy Nintendo consoles for third party games.

As many of you are already aware Red Dead Redemption 2 got announced for PS4 and Xbone. No NX version. Some of you may say that Rockstar is waiting for NX to announce the game on the platform. Don't do this to yourselves people. If Square has no problem announcing DQ10 and DQ11 for NX ( and Nintendo announcing the next Zelda for NX) than Rockstar could do the same or wait some days for Nintendo to reveal the system and announce it along with. RDR2 for NX is not happening. NX may get a port some years after but... who knows if it will be relevant

Now the question is this. NX already lost one of the most high profile games this gen. What does this mean for the system. In my opinion, it doesn't paint a good picture for the system...

It's not even one goddamn day since RDR2 has been announced, the NX hasn't even been revealed, and here you are with this... doom.

Were the PS4/X1 versions announced when GTA5 first launched? Answer: No they weren't. And did we doom third party support for PS4/X1 while no GTA5 announced for those consoles? No.

Typically when we saw games not come to WiiU - the publisher addressed the reasoning (e.g. no market, not enough time, not technically possible). No such statements are yet made of the NX or for any game.

Bottom line:  Just as it is too early too assume RDR2 is coming to NX, It's too early to write the possibility off. A lot can happen between now and when RDR2 finally launches at least a year from now.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

While i do believe RDR2 on NX is unlikely idon't think they wouldn't announce a game for an unannounced platform anyway

Either you didn't read the OP or you can't read at all. Not my problem. I already answered to your post.

"What does this mean for 3rd party support on NX?"

That it will sucks, but nothing new here :)

I think there will be some progress, especially if the NX is hybrid, so the 3rd party support from 3DS and Wii U will come to NX. At least the strong ones.

Which means :
-Ubisoft
-Warner Bros
-Square Enix
-Sega
-Activision
-Level 5
-Bandai Namco

All of those not being full support of course. Don't expect FF XV, for Honor, Injustice 2, Call of duty, etc. I'm not saying it won't happen, just that this is far from being locked.

But we'll get some games.

Now for the other publishers... Maybe EA will come back, Capcom too, but don't expect Bethesda, Take Two, Devolver Digital, Crytek, from software and many others.

The main problem is that, even if a publisher will support the NX, we won't have all the biggest games.

Was it really expected in the first place? I mean it definitely would have been a good thing for NX to get it, but I don`t think anybody really expected it so it can`t really be considered a blow that it`s not coming.

I pretty much agree with you, while I hope NX would get RDR & GTA games, my expectations were very, very low!

I seriously don't get the "18+ game not on Nintendo" stuff. Nintendo have a really good marketing niche: family friendly. If you're buying a console for your kid, you'll go for Nintendo.

I saw some parents in the game shop the other day, with a kid (12-13 yo) trying to find a PS4 game to buy for him. There was NOTHING appropriate for him. They were bugging the poor shop staff about "are there parental options to turn this 18 game into something suitable for a 12 yo?". Obviously the answer was no, but the guy in the shop did his best to mumble something about checking the settings options.

In reality: if you want games like RDR you'll have already bought a PS4 or XB1. You aren't in the market for a Nintendo system. Nintendo probably don't event want RDR on their system, as it invalidates their main selling point.

You might as well argue that horror movies are popular, so Disney should release some horror movies :)

Jumping to conclusions, you are.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Rockstar owns the biggest 3rd party property in gaming (GTA) and it doesn't mean much? okay...

The DS sold over 150M and GTA:CW barely got over 1M sold. Its just not very popular on Nintendo systems.

TBH CW didn't sell that well on PSP either, it's a different type of game to the what modern GTA fans are used to if anything it's closer to the pre-GTA3 games.
