FIFA 17 fends off Gears of War 4 in charts, and there's PS VR everywhere
Footballers take on space marines and win.
FIFA 17 has retained the crown for a third week in the UK charts, beating down serious competition in the form of Gears of War 4 and Mafia 3.
The Christmas floodgates have been opened and are unlikely to close again until Father Christmas has schlepped back up the chimney full of milk and cookies. Battlefield 1, a game with astonishing beta participation numbers, launches later this week, and after that comes an array of titles week on week that includes The Last Guardian, Final Fantasy XV, Dishonored 2, and Pokémon Sun and Moon.
- FIFA 17
- GEARS OF WAR 4
- MAFIA 3
- WWE 2K17
- RISE OF THE TOMB RAIDER: 20 YEAR EDITION
- FORZA HORIZON 3
- PLAYSTATION VR WORLDS
- SKYLANDERS IMAGINATORS
- UNTIL DAWN: RUSH OF BLOOD
- ROCKET LEAGUE
Two of the top 10 are PlayStation VR titles: PlayStation VR Worlds and Until: Dawn Rush of Blood. Of the 13 new entries into the top 40, 8 are PSVR titles. This is a good indicator that PSVR sales have been relatively healthy in the UK. We would expect, however, these numbers to slump pretty quickly as we move past the hardware's launch week.
Missing from the party is GTA 5, which after a long stint in the top 10, has finally been pushed out by newer releases. Impressively, Rocket League has managed to remain in the cluster of best-selling games yet again. The game's physical copy was released in July and it's been floating around the upper ranges of the chart ever since.
