I disagree, the levels are designed in a way that you don't even need to move the camera, its design is way more elegant. M64 has an awfull camera that needs to be moved constantly, that's horrible for gameplay.

Feels more like most of the game is designed around one power up, the cat suit. It gets a bit tedious at times. Its overkill.

I never really had that feeling honestly but maybe is because I found cat suit power up to be so damn fun I never found it tedious, but that's more a matter of personal tastes. Same with the cherry power up, really fun one to me.

It is one of the best local co-op games ever.

Its a fun game, but its ultimately just a forgettable one for me. I beat the game 100% and have maybe a few moments I remember.

Play it with people and probably you will not forget it, 4 co-op is simply epic, but even 2 co-op is hilarious.

I fear I would punch whoever I played with. Im just not into co-op games.

It's very repetitive and dull to me. After World 3, you have experienced everything it has to offer until you meet the 5th playable character.

Dont value my opinion too much though. I love 3D Land, but dont like 3D World for some reason.

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

Phenomenal game and definitely one of best games this gen, feast for eyes and ears and just so damn fun game espacily in multiplayer.

SM3DW is here somehow underrated only because is not scope of Mario Galaxy, but personaly I had more time playing SM3DW than Mario Galaxy, for me SM3DW is maybe even better game than Mario Galaxy even they are completly difrent games.

I want that NX 3D Mario game be totaly new kind of Mario, but for second 3D NX Mario game I would love SM3DW 2.

OK, well fuck scope then. SMG 1 and 2, SM64 and SMS are more fun to play than SM3DW.

Dont agree, like I wrote, I had more fun playing SM3DW than SMG not to mentione SMS.

Thats fine. Im just saying that not all of us have the same reason for preferring the previous 3D Mario games.

The structure of the game was too old for me.

It's like the New Super Mario Bros, I have no interest in playing games that feels like the old mario games I already played 20 years ago.

Mario 3D world was a step backward, and also unnecessary. We had the Open 3D series (64, Sunshine, Galaxy 1&2), alongside the 2D side scrolling series (Mario Bros 1, 2,3 World, New super mario games).
And here comes 3D world which is basically a 3D version of the old concept.

You people just don't realise that when Mario 64 was in development, a game like 3D world would have been the safe choice, but instead they pushed way beyond that, and they made Super Mario 64.

So yeah, it's not a bad game, it's even better than the New super Mario series (which are for me the "worst" games in the series) but still, it's the "worst" 3D Mario made. Mario 3D games always pushed the genre, took it somewhere nobody thought it could go, they are truly masterpieces. Mario 3D world, is just another mario but in 3D.

BTW, when I say "worst", I mean "less good". To be clear they're all good games.

I could never say that SM3DW is step backward, I would said it's more sidestep.

It could be said that SM3DW is NSMB but just in 3D, but IMO game feels totally fresh (not like another NSMB game) with some interesting new ideas and great fun. Game did not pushed scope boundaries of Mario 3D games, but actually did push boundaries of local multiplayer of 3D platformer games, and game is so fun.

I think they both have aged well. Sure the camera was a pain in the ass sometimes, but having pretty much zero control over the camera like in much of SM3DW is worse imo.

Talking about SM64, IMO game aged good expect camera and controls, and today that makes big problems.

If you could to choose next 3D Mario, I would love that Nintendo make SM64 2. :)
