Yet another example of how the media are no longer representing gamers.
The PS5 Exists.

Are gamers loving the launch games?

Yes, they are. This video has agenda written all over it. You only have to listen to the language they use to express their opinions.

VR games are glorified tech demos. If I'm ever going to buy PSVR I'm going to make sure the games have substance. As it stands they're literally no better than shovel-ware you got showcasing the Wii's motion controls

Give it time, I haven't gotten to the playroom yet. I've been using it 5 hours a day and there's too much awesome stuff to rush through. Today I finished Wayward sky, I like it, 7/10 is about right if you play it without VR. In VR it's magical and a great introduction to get comfortable with a VR world. I'll be getting back to it for the collectables. I also completed the normal stages of Rez, tons more to do though including area X. Rez Infinite sits at 90 metascore, 'meh' lol. And I'm halfway through the campaign in DC.
I guess I'm one of the lucky ones, no motion sickness what so ever. I guess when you start to feel sick halfway through, scores will be lower. It seems a lot of reviews also complain about the graphics. Dunno what they expected. Double the frame rate, triple the field of view, double every frame for stereographic output, half the output resolution per eye. It's not magic, ps3 level graphics is what you can expect.

There's a GAF thread you might want to take a look at. I've been following it daily.

The games with simpler designs are usually the VR games getting high praise(including Robot Rescue). I really hope Robot Rescue gets big exposure soon. From what I've seen It's kinda like wayward sky, super mario 64, Crash bandicoot and the like. If enough people voice out their requests for something similar but as a full game then we should expect great things to come. I would love to see Crash VR in the same vein as Robot Rescue.

One thing that seems to be common is disappointment that Move is the motion control solution. Being old tech, relatively speaking, let's it down. But for games that can be played using the DS4, Move being a crappy motion control option isn't a problem. I think maybe Sony thought about investing in new motion control tech, but decided to wait and see how VR takes off before putting in effort on new motion tracking. Question is whether VR would have more of a chance at being a success if Move 2 had been released along with PSVR. Let people have a choice of a more expensive but more accurate new gen Move, or cheap out and stay with the old Move with less precision, but lower cost of entry. |
I think its more to do with keeping the price low. If they developed new motion controllers than expect a Vive price. That wont be good for casuals who want VR especially since VR is focused around casual market.
