Forums - Nintendo - Let's talk about Super Mario 3D Land and Super Mario 3D World...

Super Mario 3D Land was one of my first 3DS games. If I think about it, it was probably my 4th or 5th. I LOVED it soo much. Whenever I replay it, it always reminds me of the early 3DS days. For whatever reason, I perfer it over than 3D World for some odd reason. Maybe its because I just met a group of friends while I was beating 3D land and it gave me memories? I DON'T KNOW. The level design, the movements, the 3D effect were all perfect to me, and to this day its my favorite 3D Mario game.

Super Mario 3D World was awesome too! The MAIN reason its not my favorite 3D Mario game, is because it was quite difficult. And I know some people out there enjoy the difficulty and had fun, but me... not so much. I respect that though. You can't please everybody. I still did have a good time playing 3D World. The music, the graphics, controls were alll great!...Matter infact, maybe I do like 3D World more than 3D Land?... I don't know ell oh ell.   I did made a rather popular thread about my statement about 3D World was the most underrated 3D Mario game ever and it's the greatest 3D Mario game of all time! (GOAT)

I remember after beating 3D Land, I wished Nintendo would make a "Super Mario 3D Land 2" or "Super Mario 3D Land: The Lost Stages". Ha ha. I am joking, mate. But anyways, I was rather sad and abit dissapointed that there was no sequel to 3D Land. Some people do say that 3D World was a sequel... but I don't see it that way. Yeah they both had the 3D in its name... by the way, does anyone else find it weird that its named Super Mario 3D World when its actually on the Wii U?.. Wouldn't the name be Super Mario U World or something similar?

I did enjoyed both games alot and they're up there on my Nintation's "Top 25 Greatest games of all time!.. featuring Knuckles!".

What did you think of the 2 great 3D Mario games on 3DS and Wii U?... I LOVED THEM, and I hope Nintendo makes more 3D Mario games like them. I loved the 3D New Super Mario Bros styled Mario games. Thank you Nintendo!

I definetly had more fun with 3D World than NSMBU! There was soooo much things that was happening, it was fast paced and sometimes can get competitive in getting that crown! And of course it was stunning to look at!

I have never played 3D land and probably won't because for me, I need to always play with someone when it comes to Mario games.

Pocky Lover Boy!

Super Mario 3D World wasn't really difficult imo. It was actually pretty easy.

While 3D World was by no means bad, I prefer 3D Land...
3D Land felt more ambitious...
And I'll echo OP's sense of surprise that we never got 3D Land 2...
Given how quickly it's said Nintendo made 3D Land, I expected a sequel at some point...

Have a nice day...

There is something about the level design that makes 3D Land the b3est of the two. 3D World's levels are bigger and in most ways better.. but there is an unexplainable Charm! I felt in the placement of your environment on 3DS. Champion's road was the only thing hard, and aside from mentioning, I don't even wanna talk about that, maybe I'm not ready. Both are excellent. I think the camera was better positioned on the 3DS version if we are talking personal preference. I prefer SM64 and Sunshine open world platforming. But since gamecube, 3D series has been my favorite. I like the controls and throwbacks to the original 2D level designs.

Both are amazing. 3d land has amazing 3D effects, exploits the capabilities from the 3DS, and it was a great surprise to be able to use Luigi later. Besides, the way the story is told is so charming!
3D world on the other side, had great lighting effects, very nice graphics, 5 great characters, and introduced the gameplay from Captain Toad, which became later on in one of the most charming games Nintendo has ever done. Neither of them was really difficult, 3D World perhaps was a bit more tedious to complete, since it was made for multi-player.
If I have to choose, I'd go with land, but world is very very close, and both are two amazing Mario Bros games!

3D World was... quite difficult? Wow.

The two bonus worlds (galaxies?) after  beating the game could get quite challenging. My girlfriend and I were ready to smash the game into the wall at times while trying to beat them.

Nice to hear someone being positive about these games. I haven't picked up 3D Land yet for some reason, but I enjoyed 3D World. I think a lot of people hate it because they've grown used to the 3D Mario games being such a solo experience that you play at your own place. If I played the game alone, I wouldn't have enjoyed it nearly as much, but I played it with someone else, the way it was meant to be played, so I got much more out of it.

I like 3D land, But 3D world is one of my all time favs

3D Land is pretty good, but 3D World is absolutely fantastic and one of my favorite Mario games ever. I still play it sometimes just for fun.
