Forums - Sony - Dualshock 4 Support Coming To Steam

Great for people that don't own an xbox controller but own the DS4.

Did you also happen to own a PS console at the time as well?, that would help falling into such a catagory, especially for one who owns a 360 fully wired gamepad like myself from my 360 days and was able to use it on PC.

Yeah, that's how I have the controller. I know there are some third party drivers you can use, but I'll probably wait for this Steam thing.

Waiting for the Steam configs would be the better option.

I'm just waiting for Valve to start selling Steam gamepads for me to try out via Steam itself.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

I don't really see the added value here. The DS4 always worked just fine with steam. Now if they would overwrite the Xbox controller buttons ingame with PS buttons, that would be news.

That is HUGE news.
Sony will sell more of these, and people on pc will be able to use decent controllers now.

So they werent before?

Most people on PC use Xbox 360 controllers, as M$ basically monopolized the market when they created xinput. Still, more easily available options is always a good thing.

Added info.

Oh, they added gyro and touchpad support? That's pretty cool, but I'm wondering which PC games are going to use those functions.

Valve's controller customization is so robust that it doesn't even matter if a game supports them. If it's anything like customizing the Steam Controller, you'll be able to set gyro to function as a joystick, and set the touchpad to do whatever the hell you want. I'm actually tempted to pick up a DS4 now... If only they were cheaper.

I hope this means they will work better because right now DS4s are absolute shite for most games I play.

Although I`ve got an Xbox One controller that works pefectly so I`ll probably just keep using that rather than try and reconfigure a DS4 so it`s actually usable.

Maybe it's just your games that are shite :P

The DS4 was plug and play since day one for Rocket League.

They can since the 360 controller, though which has native operating system support.

Wait so, before DS4, PC never had any decent worthwhile gamepads?.

I am really confused here, because for the past 5 yearsa nd more, I've been able to use and been happy with my 360 gamepad, then my PC version as well to boot.

I'm also wanting to go with a Steam gamepad at some point as well, though I don't really see that gamepad as not being "decent".

Most people when they use controllers on pc have one of those cheap logitech type ones.

Unless you provide any stats, that's tales from my ass.

They can't be people because the Logitech controllers do not fit into human hands.

That's why PC people will now buy DS4 because finally, there will be a decent controller for them. Sony will be making trillions because of that now.
