haven't heard about that game for a while, looks like a cool concept
hopefully they nail it, Ubisoft have good ideas for new games but quite often don't deliver, at least in the first game of a series

early impressions from the alpha seem very positive. you can find shit loads of gameplay online, and people seem to enjoy it A LOT. and i just cant wait to get my hands on it. i want to try it out before i buy it, so i really am looking forward to the beta.

Finished Doom's single player today. it was so fucking awesome. it starts slow but it just keeps getting better and better. its my GOTY 2016. i really hope Bathesda and ID software make a Doom 5, and they keep the "old school" feeling mixed with the new and interesting progression they had in this title, and make it even better.
the game is just loads of fun, with probably the best FPS gameplay this gen.

good to hear, I just bought it
I didn't realise Horizon was using procedural generation to make it's environments, just found out now
Don't like the sound of it at all. Tempering my expectations

What so you mean? They build the kind of envyronment of the landscape using the code? Well, it's an open world game, I don't see why would they make every bit of forest by hand if you'll be either passing throught it to get somewhere else or fighting machines frenetically. If the whole game is made like that, yeah, that could be a problem, tho. |
Jaap van Muijden from Guerrilla Games will describe the GPU based procedural placement system that dynamically creates the world of ‘Horizon: Zero Dawn’ around the player. Not limited to just rocks and trees, the procedural system assembles fully-fledged environments while the player walks through them, complete with sounds, effects, wildlife and game-play elements.

I seriously hope there is a good amount of hand-crafted environments too. If it's everything then that is really disappointing for me, I like learning an environment and think that something is lost with procedural generation
| BraLoD said: Wait, so it doesn't have a map? It's different for everybody? Or just what will be where changes depending of the player but the overall is the same, grasslands where grasslands should be, snowfields where snowfiels should be, etc, but just their overall content is created anew when you play? I will be dissapointed if it has no map... |
