According to leo-j the PS3 will be in front of the Nintendo Wii by the end of 2010.

i'd like to see that happen lol

Around the Network

it isn't over untill it is over and it is over

I thought this as well

Yer Sony have a lot of innovating to do if they want to challenge the Wii - but i think given the lifespan of the PS3 and it's blu-ray technology, further price cutts and more Wii style games for the Ps3 it will take back lost ground from the Wii this year - PS3 is selling far more this year than the last and the race is far from over.

I don't think anyone could be faulted for thinking Sony would win this generation.. but those who still think it will are just denying reality.

PS3 is to expensive it will die, it has no games it will die, FF GT wont come soon enough PS3 is dead.
FF and MGS will go multiplatform.
PS3 has no good games it will never sale well.
3rd party devs will jump to the wii lol
PS3 is to hard to program for, its to expensive to program for no one will make PS3 exclusives.
Blu ray will die it will kill the PS3 it was useless.
PS3 will never out sale the 360 its to expensive

Don't the wii/60 fanboys get tired of being ohh so wrong all the time ???

BR smashed hddvd, its gaing ground on dvd now its become a huge advantage for the PS3
PS3 is out selling the 360 in Europe even at twice the price, its out selling it overall WW.
FF and MGS are still exclusives, 3rd parytys have not swiched to the wii.

I think Nintendo will sell 10 trillion Wiis and any Sony fan who refutes me I will prove wrong by posting dubious past incidents where some other and entirely unrelated Sony fans were possibly wrong. Thats good proof for you.

Now the PS3 has been selling far better this year than last and long may it continue but its hardly a sign that the PS3 is going to outsell the Wii, the Wii is still significantly outselling the PS3 in every territory.  I hardly see how people can reasonably claim that the PS3, which has sold under half of what the Wii has sold in the same time frame, is going to overtake the Wii when it is still selling at only just over half of the Wiis sales weekly.

Reading this thread felt like therapy.

Before this generation started, I thought for sure that the PS3 would easily crush all competitors. I even advised friends not to buy a 360, because the PS3 would come out later and be so much better ("don't buy this generation's Dreamcast"). E3 2006 was a huge eye-opener; the more that I found out about the PS3, the less interest the platform held for me. $600 price tag? Crammed with multimedia features that I don't care about? No thank thee. I still thought that the PS3 would probably win the generation, just that it wasn't for me.

Once all the consoles launched and we began getting sales figures, that's when I started to realize that the PS3 was going to struggle bigtime. The holiday 2006 launch in America was nothing short of a disaster, with supply shortages (yes, the PS3 faced shortages for a brief period at launch!) limiting the PS3 to about 400k sales. Meanwhile, the Wii sold a million in the same time frame. That more or less set a trend that has continued to the present day. By March 2007, it was obvious to me that the PS3 had already lost in Japan, and would face a monumental struggle to surpass the 360 in America. So even though I was wrong at first, by the time we were six months into the generation, I thought it was pretty clear what would happen.

Pretty shocking to see that so many people STILL think that the PS3 has a shot to win the generation. Uhh, OK, keep thinking positive thoughts...

My Website

End of 2008 totals: Wii 42m, 360 24m, PS3 18.5m (made Jan. 4, 2008)

i truly beleive that the ps3 can win if they get the price down over the next two years and give it at least an 8 year life cycle. it really needs a more accessible price point.

this generation wont be over for another good five or six years yet so stop declaring wii as the winner for all you know people could just lose interest in its chilldish games and awful graphics. there is no clear winner yet. hell
maybe a new company with a new console could win this generation "cough
toshiba cough"
