Forums - Nintendo - Wii-U version of Bloodstained may be cancelled in favor of an NX release

I'm disappointed. I thought it would be the last Wii U game I buy before it gets retired to the closet. If it doesn't happen I will probably put it away sooner than I thought. Either way if it lands on NX I won't be buying it.

It's on the ropes because they're not sure the effort to make a Wii U port will be worth it, because most people will be playing on the NX, PS4, PC, or Xbox One.

And Hyper Light Drifter is different because the dev has health problems, right?

Bloodstained, if it happens for WiiU, will be farmed out to Armature for porting.  Heart Machine are perfectly able to hire a porting studio as well.  Especially when they raised enough funds from stretch goals for this exact purpose anyway.

Well, I'd be fine with changing my copy to an NX version. Hopefully that becomes an option if they decide to drop the Wii U version.

Ever since the delay, this was totally expected. This is just the first step of easy in the blow that the game wont come to Wii U.

Smart move.

It was expected. Especially after it has been delayed to 2018. It has to come to NX

What? I just read their kickstarter page, nowhere did they say that they were gonna hire a porting studio. In fact, they were gonna do it themselves.

Like other Kickstarter projects you have to think about 3-4 years off as opposed to now or a year off. For example a Kickstarter could be announced now, but the game could potentially not release until 2020/2021. Will the X1 and PS4 still be viable consoles four or five years from now? Hard to say as that long of a time frame could see industry go several ways.

And I never said they did.  I was saying funds were raised to develop for extra platforms, which can be done either in house or farmed out.  Clearly would've been a good idea when they plan on releasing for 6+ platforms, especially considering the amount of money raised.

Mind me asking why you're so defensive about this, lol?  Is the fact that your username is Xander and the developer of Hyper Light Drifter's name is Alex a clue? :P

Kickstarter projects dont seem to work out well for Wii U owners... >_>
