Show seems to be a lot of setup and celebration with pivotal matches that are more about the setup/celebration agenda - at least until Jey vs McIntyre, which IMO feels like the first match of the show that would be happening if it wasn't the Netflix debut - the first real match in other words. Feels like they're just ending all of last year's/months big storylines so they can make it a chapter 1 all around. A perfectly fitting show - but it is a slower show.

Also, loads of cameos.
Travis Scott was vaping what looked to be cannabis... Was he getting high on screen? About 4 seconds later, he removed all doubt when he sparked a fat joint and started smoking.

Show is kind of a weird cross between an infomercial and a PLE. I think I'd be enjoying it if more they spent less time trying to convince me to watch the show that I'm already watching.

That probably isn't the reaction they expected for Hogan... probably should have saved that for a red state crowd.

He got the same reaction in Florida back at WM37.

No matter which state he goes, everyone knows Hogan's an asshole.

I mean, Undertaker was there tonight too. It's no secret that he's MAGA and he still got a HUGE pop.

Edit: I think it's just a well-known fact, especially amongst wrestling fans, even the ones who don't give a damn about politics and even some MAGAs themselves, that Hogan is an egomaniacal self-absorbed jackass who always put himself above what was best for the wrestling. And so nowadays, he gets the appropriate reaction.

People may be less aware of Taker since he wasn't at the RNC convention.

But yeah, looked at the video and he didn't get a good reception at 37 either. Could have sworn though I've seen him since then and people were cheering. But, could be misremembering.

So true. It slowed down the show substantially. Especially jarring after I binged a bunch of NXT shows over the weekend.

And the Hogan thing. That was kinda weird. But it was funny to see him get drowned out by booing and then ending the segment with kind of a "moving on..."

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Rollins vs Punk is a brawl!
Makes me reconsider the stuff I said about this feud before.

That match looked stiff as hell.

I mean, I get that they think a lot of new people will be watching, so they want to kind of sell them on the idea that wrestling is cool and hip. So it makes sense, and the world doesn't revolve around me, so I'm not like upset about it. But, it wasn't all that exciting for longtime fans.

Speaking of the celebrities was the guy who was with Topanga Eric Matthews? If so, they didn't even give him a mention XD.

Best part of Hogan's bit was when he talked about how the fans never left him. The fans then immediately proved what we all know, that Hogan is a liar.

Mainly watched it for Roman/Solo and Rollins/Punk

Enjoyed it for the most part.

On the topic of the celebrity cameos.

Man, Vanessa Hudgens sure gets around these wrestling shows! She was at SmackDown in Phoenix too!
After the show, Cody, Sami, and the Usos brought her into the ring to do lead the "YEET!" dap with the crowd.

RAW week 2, I'm halfway through. The whole thing is already better than last week. IMO, the only thing from the opening show that anyone will remember is the Punk/Rollins match.

Penta's debut was one of the best I think I've ever seen in 25+ years. Kicking it off with the match and then going into that awesome promotion, half in English, half in Spanish - and the audience was getting emotional. He had a cult-leader-like presence in San Jose.

EDIT

The promos are great. Loved Bayley's. Just watched The New Day's heel promo, loved it! Both of them put on their angriest faces for it, and cut fucking hilarious heel promos with some self-deprecation - if that wasn't funny enough, Kofi was wearing a shirt with a puppy on it 😆.

Also some really big moves - the Canadian Destroyer piledriver with Penta and Chad Gable was probably the best example I've seen of that move. The Kaiser vs Sheamus match was a great adjustment into a very physically stiff match and had some nice spots that were more or less them hitting each other hard (I like those types of matches). However, the spot that I liked the best was Lyra's suplex to Dakota Kai from the ring apron to the floor.

To reiterate, this show is entertaining. Saving the Priest/Balor street fight for later, will get it done before NXT tonight.

EDIT 2

Thumbs up on RAW, if felt like an Attitude era show updated for today. I also like the Cole/Pat chemistry, and their interactions with the talent are hilarious. Pat reminds me of Attitude era King's energy with just enough abrasion - all the good, but without the bad (I know people liked King, but I found him very one-note).

The chemistry and story telling between Punk, Rollins and Drew is the best right now - moreso than the Bloodline stories.
