Forums - Gaming - the eurogamer Nintendo NX is here

We have never heard a company taking or copying ideas from others. His arguments are also really bad: "3rd parties said the NX is a game changer. Innovative. Ubisoft said it will bring Nintendo back in the race!" Just like the Wii U! Never count Nintendo out, am I right?

And yeah, I'm a supporter of the "Hybrid - Emily Rogers + Eurogamer - NX". It just makes a lot of sense (Nintendo doesnt want to abandon handheld market, but they realise it is a dying/dead market, so a hybrid is the best they can do).

I gotta say, poor guys that made the Morphuss X300. I think it looks great! But it hasnt sold well? And when (if) Nintendo does release the NX and it looks like that but it actually sells? It would be a pain in the ass.

Considering how:

1. Aikon has this tech from (2014) patented and no one can cooy it without buying it

2. Nintendo financial reports should have mentioned this merger.

3. This thing already exists in the market place

4. The leaked reveal date is wrong allowing Eurogamer to make more leaks saying Nintendo is delaying it to get more hits.

5. Eurogamer has gotten 3DS chip wrong before.

6. We have leaks to a concept that should have been bought by Nintendo yet Nintendo has not revealed the acquisition yet. And the leak reporter couldn't find more beyond that is weird.

I think there is questionable doubt on Eurogamer's leak. Other websites can claim to have heard the same thing just to get the clicks. But if this leak is wrong, Eurogamer has the most to lose and other website can throw them under the bus.

Though I can never see a dedicated gaming device such as this ever selling well (40+ million), I've said it many times but if the NX IS a Hybrid and it has a screen size of over 6 inches, it will not achieve mainstream success.

Important to remember that when you remove the detachable controllers you're left with a tablet which plays Nintendo games.

Of course if Nintendo done this they would figure out a more ergonomic control placement then any of the tablet attachments  we've seen.

Yes, but that would require it to be a good Tablet, not just a good gaming device. Anything not running android/ios/Windows 10 has no hope in the Tablet Market, and Nintendo are hardly well known for the quality hardware people in the tablet crowd are after.

I mean the NX is rumoured to be 720p for one... on a tablet released after 2012 that's a no go, then you have the battery life, camera... I don't see the NX winning over the Tablet crowd, and I don't see a tablet sized device winning over the 3ds crowd. It would be a fairly niche device.

I've been beginning to begrudgingly accept the rumor (Pokemon company comments were swaying me), but this goes back to the main problem. It just wasn't a good idea.

It's basically a handheld with an HDMI output, and there's nothing really special about that. It would be fine for Nintendo's next handheld, but doesn't make sense for them to put their whole business on the back of something like this.

Coming off of their worst failure in history, in the middle of a generation, with Playstation VR, Pro, and Scorpio on the horizon, Nintendo needs to announce something really exciting. And this clearly ain't it.

LO-fuckin hold this L Eurogamer, Emily, and whoever believed their crap..wow is this not a clone description of the NX "leak" or what? ...to a gotdam T

Now if by some miracle this is what NX turns out to be, I legit hope Ninty gets sued and loses hundreds of millions.

Why are people acting like this has any relation to the credibility of Eurogamer (and everyone else's) sources?

For years there have been many gaming tablets with optional controllers. None double as a home console though, and none have Nintendo games.

Razor edge from 2013.

Lol, you guys really want to believe that the leaks are wrong. NINTENDO's own patents which came tolight after the point, really do back up much of what was said of the NX.

Because the nx is "a new concept, a new way to play" editors were wrong about the wii, they could be wrong about the nx. And this thing is not similar to the leak, its he same thing.

To be honest, I've never liked trusting leaks from any site or person or whatever. I do think that if many sources have the same information, there's gotta be some truth to it.

But your points are indeed interesting. The good thing is we shall know the truth soon enough... right?

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

I think Kids would be perfectly happy with a 720p tablet, just because other manufacturers are having a pissing contest for how many pixels they can fit into a 8" screen, I don't think that means consumers are unwilling to accept less, especially those not going for a premium device. The battery life rumours from Emily was obviously in response to playing games, I doubt any tablet would last too long playing full blown games like Zelda BOTW. With the camera she specified that it won't be built in & that she didn't mean there won't be one. The great thing about the Tablet crowd is that its huge, in 1 year more tablets will be sold than PS4/X1/Wii U lifetime sales combined. There are different demographics and room to diversify, Nintendo wouldn't have to compete with the $800 iPad and $600 Samsung Galaxy.

Obviously the potential to turn it into a 4-8player Mario Kart box on the fly & play next full fledged Pokemon help distinguish it. Its not the expectation that someone uninterested in gaming will pick up an NX, but that a casual gamer on the fringes will be more interested in Nintendo's device by the fact it also doubles as a tablet. Theres definitely obstacles to face but we know that a dedicated handheld system will continue to decline without a successful gimmick openning Nintendo up to new audiences. we saw from the GBA 80m (4years), 3DS 60m (6years in Jap, 5 years WW), Dedicaed NX Handheld 30m-50m? (5 years)

DS? I skipped it because its success came from Nintendo expanding beyond traditional handheld gamers.

You can't try to establish a pattern with only two data points, and throw out anything that disagrees.
