You can't say "not to be rude" and have it negate the ride way you say things. That's not how social interaction works.

I can say that and I did. I didnt mean to be rude about it. Im just asking why its so hard to understand it.

Ignoring your borderline-austistic understanding of social situations, there's a precedent for what's happening.

Virtual Boy was a "handheld"(?) console that absolutely bombed. No question there. It was also a fifth gen platform, and launched in 1995. Three years later, the Gameboy Color launched and quickly replaced it and the Gameboy/Pocket, yet remained part of Gen 5. Time frame plays a very important role in what generation a platform falls in, but "mulligans" relatively early in generational cycles have been shown to not move up to the next generation.

They do.

No they dont. Its just us counting them as a part of whatever console gen theyre released in.

Super petty, I know, but

"I dont mean to be rude or anything, but is it really that hard to understand what a gen is?"

So your argument for handhelds not being part of console generations derives from no handhelds appearing in gen 3, despite handhelds existing in both gen 2 and 4?

No, you say handhelds have generations of their own. What systems are gen 2 then if thats easier?

No, I said they have generations. Those generations are shared with home consoles.

Game & Watch, Microvision, Select-a-Game, Adventure Vision, And Epoch Game Pocket.

Again thats just us gamers giving meaning to what era a handheld is active in. The Gameboy was a part of gen 3, 4 and 5 if we go by that.
