Forums - Gaming - I've decided to never buy games at MSRP from now on, just play Pokémon Go and get free scraps from PSN and XBL

Welcome to the party!

(Although for me the exceptions are games I plan to play immediately once I buy them - i.e. Final Fantasy and Pokemon).

Games drop prices quick unless they are from Nintendo - in that regards, just wait for holiday times.

Now I see how you can afford to build your own mansion, with plantation land and orange orchard .

Oh man. The list of games I bought at msrp launch price that still have yet to open is mental. In the last few years, I have really started to just wait for price drops. It's why I still don't have UC4. More power to you bro.

But Uncharted 4 lived up to/exceeded the hype....

I haven't even completed Uncharted 1-3 yet. Bought the collection and after killing the first guy, I stopped. Was hoping to finish those before Uncharted 4 came out,  but I failed. 😐

The OP sound like me so much it's scary, I even buy every psp and psone game which goes on sale on the Vita even though I have around 60-70 great titles on the Vita which I absolutely have promised myself I will play them... but keep piling on more games into my library which I have either finished before (hello every final fantasy) or games which I have tried many times to play but just don't enjoy (hello Resi evil 1-3 psone versions)

Needs more control in buying games, doesn't help that I have around €200 of psn credit atm, was considering just spending it on psn+ subscription time.

Games are really pricey now, so I don't buy games day 1 at msrp... usually wait it out till a sale, but given how Nintendo games rarely go on sale or have price drops, that takes some time :p

With exceptions, of course

[3DS] Winter Playtimes [Wii U]

Games going up to $80 here have woken me up as well to the amount of full price yet to play games on my shelves. That doesn't extend to hardware for me though, I'll use the hardware regardless.

Oh who am I kidding, I'll by Horizon, TLG, GT Sport and Breath of the wild day one anyway. And still have to start Bloodborne :/ Yet I finally took the time to finish The way, awesome game. It's currently down to the price I backed it for, I finished it in time!

Good for you man. I've actually done a pretty big evaluation of my buying tendencies too. I need to have higher standards and pick my purchases more wisely. GameStop had a deal last weekend where members got 60% extra trade-in credit. I brought in 40+ games, some of which I had never played, and walked out with $200 and felt a lot better.

And it's not just refusing "AAA" games at launch for $60-$120, depending on the edition and season pass. I only get Zelda games at launch and the odd Team Ico game (read: The Last Guardian). It's also about refusing to buy those same games at $40, $30, and $20. With so many games on the market and with so few hours in the day, it's impractical to purchase dozens of games a year, even at a heavy discount.

Here's an example. Amazon is selling the hardened edition of CoD: Ghosts for PS4 for $15. I seriously thought about buying it and then I thought those 15 dollars and 6 hours could be used on a game with a much higher pedigree.

So I commend you pbroy :D

Stay strong, brother!

I can totally relate to you.Right now I have 6 games pending on PS4, 2 on the Wii U, about 5 on the 3DS, but I will still get my copy of Rise of The Tomb Raider when it launches on the PS4, my RPG fix with Persona 5 and certainly Horizon, all at launch!Or close to it.Dammit, I need more time...

Give them to people who actually want them then. Dont get problems like this. Dont get the games if you know youre not gonna have time nor the want to play them. Its that simple.
