It has been a while since my last thread, it suddenly occured to me I haven't made a thread about the new PS4 Pro and my last NX thread was ages ago. Since that time we practically know NX is going to be some sort of hybrid system of which the handheld will probably form the bottleneck. The NX is rumoured to be quite powerful and was somewhat comparable with the vanilla xone, recently the Xone has been made a bit more powerful and it supports UHD blu ray and HDR. Bigger news however was the announcement and reveal of the PS4 pro with a whopping 4.2 teraflops, which is way more powerful than the vanilla PS4, which already was more powerful than the vanilla xone.

This means the PS4 pro which costs only €100- more than the PS4 slim and probably the NX and offers a lot more graphical power for a very affordable price. I wonder whether the announcement and release of the PS4 pro espeically in combination with PSVR (which needs those extra teraflops) will negatively influence the sales of the NX. Or whether the NX is unique enough to not be affected by the recent launches of these platforms. I for one could see that many gamers with a 4k tv buy a PS4 pro instead of a NX and I could also see people buying a PSVR and Pto be sure a PS4 pro for it. When the holiday season has ended it will remain doubtful if those same gamers will also buy a NX.

The problem with the NX is, even though we get a better image due to rumours of what the NX is. We really don't actually know jack about it yet except it releases somewhere in march 2017. We do on the other hand know what the PS4 pro and PSVR offer, hell we even know more about project scorpio than the NX. Anyway what do you guys think is the release of the PS4 pro and VR this holiday going to eat sales potential for the NX during launch away, or will gamers buy the NX anyway?

I don't think th Pro is going to hurt the NX that much, specially because the regular PS4 has already put the NX in a pretty bad place, the Pro doesn't add that much. But I'm pretty sure Nintendo has thought of that already. I'm sure they will make a cheaper version, something like the Vita TV. No handheld parts, no screen, no batteries, something that works as 100% home console alongside the hybrid handheld. That might help people to buy it as a secondary console.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

I hope NX is a product that sells because of the software that's on it, not the hardware. PS4Pro seems great for people who don't have a PS4 yet but as for PSVR, not sure that will catch on considering costs.

The NX needs to be cheap, if there are systems 8-10 times more powerfull out there for 400$, that have 3rd party.

Nintendo shouldnt launch the NX at more than 199$.

What is the current RRP for the Wii U?

You have PS4 Pro + PSVR listed twice in the poll.

Most places they seem to be 299$.

Which is why they re selling so slowly.

299$ for a Wii U @176Gflops 32gb hdd.

vs

299$ for a PS4slim @1840Gflops 500gb hdd , has many years left in it, tons of new games comeing, and 3rd party support.

Nintendo have to be smarter when they get the hardware guys to design the NX.

They need to think forwards, predict how the market will change and make component choices based on that, so things can go down in price over time.

Spending 80$ on the gamepad for the Wii U was not a smart hardware design choice. They cant do the same with the NX.

If the NX is 1/8th the power of say a PS4 pro, then NX needs be to atleast 1/2 the price. Its about perceived value.

Differnce between PS4 & Wii U = about 10 times.

Differnce between NX & PS4pro = about 10 times.

I know this system will be able to be used as a handheld too, if all the rumors are true (power wise, its a hybrid ect).

However they could end up in a simular situation as the Wii U, power wise.

I'd argue the ps4 slim is more of a threat as it keeps the entry price to PlayStation quite low with the ability to go even lower.

Psvr too but it remains to be seen if that thing will drop fast in price.

Show me one person that has to decide between NX and PS4 pro and I show you a million that don't.

Also there are 2 same options but no PC option? I call racism.

Like to buy a NX, love Nintendo games but most recent rumours said to be from foxconn is not to my liking to say the least. I've just put PS4 VR but I suspect I will get a ps4 pro and may even get one before the VR visor.

Currently have a wii u, xbone and ps4 but the ps4 gets most use and find the wii u very disappointing for the price I paid. Poor value compared to the other 2 consoles in both games available and game quality.

Looking forward to the new Zelda though.
