Forums - Gaming - Favorite Genre and Why

RPG´s - because of history and character development, as well as the challenging gameplay
Puzzle - again, because of the challengin gameplay.

Those are my favorite genres but I´m always navigating through different genres... right now I´m playing Splatoon (shooter), CodeName Steam (strategy), Animal Crossing (simulation), Pokken (Fighting). I´m always trying something different. The only genre I really can´t stand no more is FPS. I got tired of it.

Topic is in the title guys. What's your favorite genre and why?

[Cool Story, Bro]

Really cool story and it's fascinating how it took so many tries until you started to love the series. That's why I make sure anyone I know who doesn't like it tries it co-op at least one time. Never know if it will take as many tries as it did with me to finally sink in.

So basically what you do is that you group gank single guys 3v1 all the time in these games? Not all of the time, but we were always in a group chat giving advice on the fly. Being a larger group made it so we couldn't all fit in one group, and at other times some of us just wanted to get something done solo while the rest of the group powers through the story.

But what co-workers do you have that you all together bought a game like Bloodborne? That's so awesome. I work at a national electronics chain and run the Audio/Video department. The real issue was finding people who weren't exclusively PC, but even that was easily remedied by not bothering with anyone who works in Components. Overall there are about 10 diehard Soulsborne fans in the store, and only two of them hang their hats exclusively in PC.

What do you mean with "the troll" in the beginning of Dark Souls 2? The one that tries to sit on you when you're behind it, through the cave to the left before the firekeepers' house? We ran it about 6 times, with me nailing it on my third-ish try. Mind you, I wasn't very good at the time. I can easily kill it now, but dat learning curve, tho.

Have you played Lords of the Fallen? I love that game. I've played about 10 minutes, but I don't know how I feel about "Dark Souls: Heavy Builds Only Edition". I had a lot more fun with Salt & Sanctuary.

Grand strategy games like Europa Universalis, Crusader Kings and Hearts of Iron. Restoring the Roman Empire never gets old.

RPG, with Action Adventure close second simply because of exploration.

Cool.You have a great workplace.

Oh yeah that troll lol

Tell a little about Salt & Sanctuary. I've heard it's good, hard and possibly unfair. How many hours did u spend on it?

I hit my Platinum at around 44 hours. There's a learning curve to getting the 2D Souls feel down, but after that it's cakewalk. I died probably 20 times total, most of that in the first 6 hours. There are probably only about three or four truly "unfair" points in the game, whereas the rest of it is really just a "git gud in 2D, not 3D" situation. I highly recommend it to anyone who is a fan of Soulsborne or Metroidvania.
