I know Gran Turismo is a great game, i have never owned a Playstation console but it's the one game i would consider buying a Playstation for. Having said that i don't understand how people can be confident in Gran Turismo 5 selling 10 million copies on the PS3, it just doesn't make sense to me. We see all these predictions of PS3 games doing huge numbers just because their predecessors did, but that was on a WAY larger install base. I know it's stilll relatively early days for the PS3, but it's just never going to hit PS2 numbers.

As for the arguement that a large portion of that 120 million is just sitting out there patiently waiting for the update to their favourite Playstation franchise just so they can rush out and buy a Playstation 3, I'm sorry, i just don't buy that either. Now i'm not ragging on anyone but i just like to know how people think these numbers are reasonable, am i missing something? I know this is not exactly on topic, but it was raised during the course of it.

The GT franchise is just so massive compared to the Mk franchise, i've seen deals at EBgames where they sell old copies of GT3 for $2. Imagine how many used GT games have been played over the life of the PS2. I've never even seen a used copy of Sunshine, melee or MK:DD at any ebgames. The fanbase for GT is just so much larger then the fanbase for MK.
