Forums - Movies & TV - What is the future of Ultra-High Definition(4k/2160P) blu-ray??

Right now, it's mostly an enthusiast market, which is quite small. The problem with investing in a 4k TV right now is that it's almost worthless; UHD blu-ray is expensive and you have few options for players, 4k streaming is utterly useless as the images and sound are compressed to death, defeating the entire purpose of UHD to begin with.
As of right now, 4k is close to useless for most consumers, this will remain so until UHD discs and players become more mainstream or actual, uncompressed 4k streaming content becomes available to those with faster internet.

However, seeing as how even the main proponent and owner of the blu-ray format seem less than interested in promoting UHD discs, there is little hope of it becoming mainstream and somewhat affordable any time soon.
