That ARC return is no better than using optical s/pdif. Just use that instead until you upgrade the receiver. It sucks going back to lossy compressed audio, yet good 100+ watt per channel amps aren't cheap either.
I'll wait another year, everything should be more affordable by then and HDR better realized.

What I don't get is this IMAX stuff.
I've been to movies that have imax sections, like BvS. To me it looks like all it does is remove the bottom and top black bar and have that also showing stuff.
So why don't they just all switch to "imax" format and use the whole freakin screen.
I'm sure the ratio isn't the same exactly, but still, why make movies in a different size than TV's size. And no, don't just ZOOM in and have less stuff on the edges, but just add stuff above and below. Makes no sense.

Really? Well that sucks, but with the two TVs that I was looking at from LG they were very good quality TVs even compared to Sony and Samsung. Just looking at picture quality though it was like the OLED TV looked better than botht he Sony and the Samsung and I had the Samsung 4k TV and returned it because it shut off and would not come back on after only 1 month.....it was crazy I think it was part of the j7 series.

That is true provided that all of your equipment is 4K ready. This work around is for those whose receivers that are NOT 4k ready. This work around is a legit procedure in the a/v market as said earlier when required. The "weakest link" in your a/v set up is the bottleneck that prevents you from taking full advantage of the original source's output. This is not a "Sony thing." You've already voiced your discontent over PlayStation and Sony in previous threads when the PS4 Pro was announced, and this is nothing but another attempt to bash Sony. But your ignorance over a/v equipment caught you with your pants down.

So this HD-10 protocol, it isn't the full resolution of 3960 x 2160? And you spent $3000 on it?
This is what's bothering me a lot right, I don't dare to buy a new TV because I'm so afraid something better will come soon after and my device will feel obsolete. And prices are so hard to determine. These new OLED TVs for $2500 and up, what if they are only $1500 one year from now?

You know you have that bar on top and bottom. But with OLED, the bar is completely black, you don't notice it at all. It's like your tv got shorter. On all other tv's the black is just a super super super super dark black, you can still tell there is tv screen there. This it's like the same color as teh black trim of the tv. Then when scenes go pitch black was a real wow moment. It was like I turned my tv completely off. It was completely black. Not the as I said black, but you can still tell tv is on. It was completely black. With non OLED, the directv could be off and thus the screen black, and no lights on the house, yet you could still walk around and somewhat see cause teh black wasn't really black. It gave off a faint light. Not in this case. THe TV might as well be off, it's so black. But even in just the first few seconds of the video, you can tell on wahtever monitor your watching how much better the colors look on the LG tv on the right. It makes that cloud scene just look so majestic. Watching the rest of this video, they bring up some Judder issue. I've never experienced it yet, but as I said i only watch movies and tv shows. Games I've played on it so far has only been Captain Toad's Treasure Tracker. Hardly a pressing game for testing anything. |
That's what I'm talking about! When I saw an OLED in the electronics store I was completely blown away. I couldn't believe it.
So you have a 55inch LG OLED B6?
But what about HDR? Are the LG OLED TVs HDR?
If you're waiting for a decent OLED 55" 4K TV I'd advise holding off a year. The technology is rapidly advancing and prices will fall a lot over the next year. If you don't mind paying over $2,000 then go for it now.

The 65in is the one I was looking at when I went to Best Buy here and it blew me away compared to the others lol. But the prices are dropping, so we should see some even better prices pretty soon! I am hoping for some crazy good deals in the next few months!

Nothing is perfect yet the E6 comes very close. Burn in is not much of a concern anymore, image retention still happens.
