What makes me angry is the release date...2018, why showing it alteady?

In the sense that the characters, environments and enemies are nothing unlike what you'd see in many recent JRPG's (and even some animes). I find nothing enticing about the way this looks, but there is a chance the gameplay will carry it through, being that it's made by PG.

Thanks for the (forum-unworthy!) explanation. Perhaps I don't see it or hear it - while the third picture is something I find quite nice (and actually distinguishable), I just don't see much difference, even if there attention to small details there - and there is. As to Japanese VA, I typically play games with English VA, unless the Japanese cast sounds really good (or the English one is bad). I can only recognize a few Japanese VA's, but I will tie them to another character they portrayed rather than a name - I don't really know 'em.

As an example of style though, Persona 5 doesn't really come up with new things either - but to me, it's exemplary and distinguishable (though, I can say that about SMT as a whole).

@Ruler: Blizzard? Generic? From Starcraft to Overwatch, they are anything but generic. Fantasy WRPG's are generally extremely similar, yes.

@Lafiel: From a gun that assembled itself in your hands, to stupidly unreasonable power armor designs and attacks, Vanquish wasn't generic at all.

Platinum games has my attention, surprised announced it so early though.

Platinum Games went from not releasing often enough to saturate the market in matter of 3-4 years.

Selling exclusivity to the big 3 apparently pays off.

Dude, step on some toes. I personally don't care if you thrash those two franchises all day, I'm sure you got your reasons. Don't be afraid of the people in these sites, we're nerds, all talk, no bite.

On the topic of modern FF tho, I am glad that FF is transitioning from Turn based to action oriented, it's the natural progression of RPGs, in my opinion, with the exception of actual Strategy RPGs a la Wasteland 2 and Divinity Original Sin (two of my favorite RPGs in recent years) Generally speaking though, I welcome more Action oriented JRPGs like Star Ocean and Tales series.

Persona 5 says "Hi."

Well, that's why I said it was my opinion. Action oriented combat is more engaging to me but It's good that Persona 5 is keeping the dream alive.
