This is like the third mediocre game coming from the director of Metroid Prime, Mark Pacini, since he left Retro Studios. How does one create such a classic masterpiece trilogy and then lose it immediately after?

People are putting blame on Keiji Inafune.

Maybe Inafune's name has been used to give the game more attention. He seems to be the producer of the game and Pacini the director, so Pacini should be blamed instead of Inafune. I feel bad for Inafune.

Pretty disappointing to see scores so low, but I have the game purchased already for the PC. That being said, what I've read from the reviews makes me think I will enjoy this game quite a bit. It's a throwback to the platforming and exploration games of yesteryear. Something that's been sorely lacking in the 7th and 8th generations. Even some of the negatives like having to collect things near the end of the game is not something I personally consider a negative. Looking forward to firing up this bad boy tomorrow.

And it is somehow ubisoft investing in all original IPs, even though they may be derivative

In fairness, Sony has tried a bit as well (albeit, not with the greatest success so far). Days Gone and Detroit look to rectify their problem, to a degree, while Scalebound (yes, I expect good things here) should be a winner for Microsoft.

Dont forget Horizon :)

Why?

Comcept are not developers. They are as their company name implies - conceptual work; providing the blue print for a game. Not to mention, Comcept itself is based off of Inafunes own specialty while working at CAPCOM, giving other people work to do. Inafune is credited with creating Megaman, Onimusha, Dead Rising, Lost Planet ext, but he  did not "design" those games, just provided the blue print for somebody else to design something around it.

Overwatch, Hyper Light, Transistor, Rocket League. Great new IPs off the top of my head.

I was talking about exclusive new Ips anyways, I think only 3 new exclusive Ips have managed to get over 80. One in every system.

Reviewers growing a pair is the main filter for this generation.

Lots and lots of games were getting free passes and 80+ for no good reason during the 7th generation. In my opinion, 70s is the new 80s.

Sub 60 seems about right

Better than nothing 2.0 ;P

This game is out already? I had no idea... That's cool though. I was curious about this game.

Anyways, 72.
