Just look at this picture from Paper Mario Colour Splash:

Seriously look at it. Just look at it. Look closer, please! Yes. Exactly. The enemies are missing shadows. Inconceivable!
Update! Some people aren't convinced at the horrifying visuals lurking in this scene. So I included a Youtube video of this same lemmon summon but with all shadows accounted for. Watch at your own risk.
Update 2- Well. I made a mistake and now I have to own up for it like a real man. I was wrong about the shadows. As jigokutamago said:
"Not to ruin the joke, but the shadows actually are there. The enemies are just floating a bit."
And while this didn't convince me, as the number of shadows and enemies seemed missmatched, Slarvax clarified the whole thing:
"I think the Koopa's shadows might be extended to the Spike's (green thing) shadows. Since the enemies are 2D but those shadow effects are 3D... it looks like a mess"
So I was sadly wrong about the Shadows but that doesn't mean I'm wrong about the visual quality because as Goodnightmoon kindly exposed:
"Horrible, Where is the subsurface scattering? And is not even 4k?? Who can be able to play with such terrible visuals in 2016, looks like a game boy color game!"
So, at the end, even if I was wrong about the shadows, there are enough horrid aspects about these graphix to keep the hate train going. Chooooooooo! We are so cool.
