But it doesn't really matter now what anybody thought it might have based on history.  It doesn't have it.  Luckily for you there are choices in the marketplace.

It does matter cause now, people like me will complain and maybe next time around, they won't make such stupid decisions.

It would probably have more impact if you didn't buy one and everyone else upset over the drive not being a part of the system followed you.  Exercise the power of the marketplace.

That's true but Playstation has the exclusives I want to play. And the ps4's framerate isn't what I would call "stable" so... You can see my dilemma.

That may be the case but I fail to see how they'll learn a lesson if people upset about lacking features they want buy it anyway.  That might do nothing but confirm in their minds the exclusion as the right decision.

Meh, I have seen whining be pretty effective in some cases. For example with Overwatch, we whined a ton about how shitty the competitive mode is but we already gave them our money and they revamped it. I guess a bigger example would be how many people whined about Galaxy S devices in the past being plastic dispite giving Samsung shit loads of money each year and they changed that to leather and now to glass/metal. And those phones still cost the same.

Who am I to argue?

I don't buy much in the way of Sony electronics but I cheaped out and got a sub woofer.  I whine constantly that I wish it said klipsch reference instead and my wife just rolls her eyes.

+1 to the OP mentioning diminishing returns.

Question to folks: are you able to justify UHD Blu-ray purchases for yourself?  Do you own large format 4K TVs (65" and above) capable of reproducing HDR without blooming?

Personally I'm interested in all that, and I'm likely going to drop $9000 on a TV to get that, so I am bummed the PS4P doesn't have UHD BR, but I'm willing to bet 99% of folks won't in the near future.

That's why they have PS4's and not XB1's.

Sounds like you have submitted to settling for less because not having a UHD player means you have to fork out another $200-$300+ if you wanted to watch UHD disks. Plus you have already settled for less with its online network which is what they want you to use to watch 4k UHDs. Ill wait for the next addition of the Pro that includes one. Thats just me.

No, I've decided on *gasp*

A lot more games.

I don't have a 4K TV and I'm buying a Pro. And Sony publicly stated that they recognize the growth and demand of streaming is why they excluded 4K Blu Ray playback while emphasizing gameplay on a 4k Set. Whether you believe them or not, what they say is reasonable. That was their expressed intent.

To me, that's a bigger waste of money than paying a bit extra for a 4K player on the device. But I did mention the hardcore fanbase as part of the niche audience for the PS4pro.

Out of interest, would you still be buying a PS4pro if it cost $100 more?

Would I buy a PS4 Pro if it were $500 with 4K Blu-Ray playback.  Short answer: No.

Long answer: I really cannot justify a current gen concole at the moment beause of my backlog.  Because of your Bob Hoskins Mario avy, let me show you my personal Nintendo DS collection supported by my car manual and a napkin holder:

Including one 3DS game for a handheld that I do NOT own, there are 20 games I have yet to beat.  And that's just for one system.  My backlog will last me for the next two generation at my rate.  My original intent in buying a PS4 this Christmas was to bag an original PS4 because I preferred the look of the original over the Slim, and I didn't want to miss out on getting an original model before they were all sold out.  That was before the PS4 Pro announcement.  A hundred dollars more for a 1 TB HDD and enhanced graphics even on a 1080p tv was worth the difference over a 500 GB HDD wiith no enhanced graphic.  But to pay another $100 for 4K Blu-Ray playback wasn't worth it to me as implied in my original post due to current higher priorities.
