but ff13 is 2 games. it should count together just like pokemon red/blue.

So both game will have identical main characaters, story, dialogue, and battle systems? I didn't think so.

If SE is releasing them Side by side same day then they shouldn't be in compitition with each other. I bet SE will look at both of them together (and seperate)

If they release them side by side then they will absolutely be competition. They are two seperate games. Most people do not want to throw down $120 in a single day when they can just as easily throw down $60 one month and then maybe pick-up the other game later. You did do a good job of changing the subject though.

I'm def. still on topic.

FF13 + versus may be > than ff10. And thats def. the subject.

Just a suggestion... next time people try to compare 360/PS3 game sales to their previous consoles... try using genres that don't ONLY favor the 360.

Damn, that list Viper made was like 3 Sports titles and the rest... Shooters... No shit the 360 will sell more and the PS3 looks bad. We don't play that shit non stop, we have other genres too you know?

I always thought comparisons like this were stupid. Big deal NFS Carbon sold better on the PS2 than the PS3, at the time it was only like a 100 million console difference... jeez.

With XBox, of course it is easier to compare, 25M install base to a 18M install base. Unlike 120M install base to 8M at the time? When carbon came out... how many PS3's were purchases? 6? Maybe 7M at the most? Now how many PS2's?

Indeed the PS3 games are selling good. No denying that.

GH III, hmmm... PS3 required a $100 set, 360 only requires a purchase of the game itself, same with PS2. Once again... no shit for the higher sales...

I won't get into the Wii, I have my opinions on that system outside of a few Nintendo games.

Leo, why make this thread if you know the cavalry will just come in to throw stupid graphs in your face, even if those graphs have a 100M console differential?

You claimed that both games should be counted together like pokemon red/blue and then when called on that ridiculous claim went on some slightly related tangent. Of course those 2 games combined will be more than FFX but that is combining to seperate and only slightly related games. How you could even think it was a good comparison is beyond me. I have to assume it is because you want the PS3 to succeed so much. And before ya try to deny that I have a fun question for you. Should you combine FFX and FFX-2s sales for the basis of comparison? What about FFXII and FFXII: Revnant Wings? That is what you are doing with the FFXIII titles.

I was just looking at the game database and comparing games, I compared call of duty 2 for the ps2 and cod4 for the ps3 and the ps3 already outsold the game 2 to 1.

 Dude... Just no... Comparing CoD2: The Big Red One to CoD4? -_-;;

Guitar Hero II and Rockin' the 80's? Like Pokemon too right?

Don't worry about it, just someone with a stupid comment. 2 entirely different games, yet he thinks they are the same.

If you pick the game(s) up, please trade party members with me. FF character trading... nice huh?

See? Just ignore those comments, as you can see from what I have just done, we can all make stupid posts.

It happens. :) This is the internet.

I posted all games on the current consoles over 1 million units in a series.  So claiming you guys play other genres isn't supported much by the top selling games.

you're ridiculous. those games didn't release at the same time as the others.

You can't release 2 games at the same time and expect them both to sell close to previous installments of the franchise.

they will eat into each others sales.

If SE is expecting 8mil for each they are in for a major disappointment

You need games that launched side by side, on the same console, by the same company, and with the same title in your comparison for it to be the same as im saying

In what way am I ridiculous? I am comparing a combination of a spin-off and main game to a spin-off and main game. Apples to apples is the comparison most people strive for. And yes, as I mentioned earlier of course they will eat into each others sales. They are two competing products. That is why they will not launch at the same time. Square-Enix is well aware of the fact that two of their heavy hitting titles launching too close together will only hurt their bottom line. This is shown by the fact that they were/are considering delaying FFXIII because the launch was/is too close to Dragon Quest IX. If they do release it then there expectations for one of the titles is significantly lower than the other.

I didn't know you were only comparing 1M sellers. For that I apologize.

Yes Shooters may sell more, but that does not mean nobody plays the other genres. As an RPG player, I could care less how many rehashed Madden games people flock to or overabundance of shooters sell.

To some it just does not matter at all, so it actually is supported.

I just always see lists that contain so many shooters and it upsets me to see that everyone keeps ignoring everything else.

Has Zack and Wiki sold well? My god... it should have.

People don't like having to think anymore, this is my opinion.

I have said it a million times now, but I can say things that come out as offensive, like I am trying to call out or single someone out. I do not ever mean it. I apologize if I ever put anything in the wrong context. I am just very free with my words.

when did you say they will launch at different times? I also clearly stated earlier that the way I precieved these games will be launched together (both with different stories but one game following a different person than the other). If they launch at different times then no they should not be counted together. That gives people enough time to play their first purchase through only to decide if they want the next,
