Imho this was a really smart move by Nintendo knowing that Sony would announce their new Hardware today, the game might not be for everyone, but as long as it prevents people from talking about their rival hardware manufacutrer it's a win on their hand. (Of course this won't prevent PS4 Pro from selling 1000000000M copies this holliday season since NX won't be out yet)

Now I don't think this is going to stop people from buying PS4s this holiday and suddenly save up for NX. But I think that along with representing Japan in the Closing Ceremony of the Olympics, this is yet another example of just how popular and iconic Mario really is!

Hell, just the announcement alone sent Nintendo's stocks soaring past Sony's, AGAIN.

Nintendo probably had no way of knowing this would be on the same date as the Sony event as this was probably planned more than a month in advance. Kinda funny how it worked out though.

Lol, now PS4 Pro is #3. 3 spots above iPhone 7 and 6 spots above Mario. And Sony is #7. Didn't somebody say iPhone was going to completely overshadow the PS4 Pro announcement?
