It's 2.5x more powerful

My point still stands.

Your point was that its a PS4 that renders at 4K, and nothing else.  This is incorrect.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

Not really. The difference in gens is mainly defined by power increases. This is a sizeable increase, but not as big as a full gen upgrade, making it a half-gen console.

No, that's not how gens are defined. A new PS generation will come along when a console is released that plays games that are not playable on the PS4.

Ok, still don't see why it can't be described as a mid gen machine though just because it doesn't have exclusive games

Well, the PS4 Slim is a mid gen machine as well then.

Yeah it is a mid gen "machine"  but not an upgrade in terms of improvement to the games.

So let me get this straight. All PS4 models will get a firmware upgrade to support HDR. So far so good. But if you're running the PS4 to a receiver, should that receiver be HDR compatible? Does a new receiver that supports HDR need to be bought so the signal isn't loss when going to the tv?

It depends on what kinda magic Sony has up their sleeve. HDR is part of hdmi 2.0a spec, which a hdmi 1.4 receiver won't accept. Hence early 4k UHD players have 2 hdmi out ports, one for sound and one for video. Did they say whether the ps4 pro will have an optical port for sound? Not ideal but having to buy a new amp isn't either.

So that's it? Glad I didn't watch it then. Never cared about PS4 Neo and was only interested in this event for potential new game reveals. But not a single new game reveal?

I think the most exciting reveal to me today was the Pokemon Go for the Apple Watch.

And I don't even have an apple watch and won't get one, lol. Let alone I don't really play Go at all. Like lvl 5 and haven't even evolved one pokemon.

It just looked really cool and a massive improvement to the game.

I would love it if it somehow came to my Garmin Forerunner, but the chances of that are -100%. Then when I'm running 5+ miles a day I could hatch an egg or catch a pokemon without having to hold onto my phone with my sweaty ass hands.

An holiday where Sony is releasing more hardware products than games. lol. At least they mentioned TLG

Native 4k The Last of Us... http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2016-three-hours-with-playstation-4-pro

"Speaking to Naughty Dog at the event, we were told that The Last of Us Remastered - just like its base PS4 version - will have a 30Hz mode that features enhanced image quality. The existing PS4 game features higher resolution shadows maps and those are joined by a full, native 4K pixel count on the PS4 Pro. This drops down to a lower resolution at 60fps, where we're told to expect improved performance compared to the original release on base hardware."
