Miyamoto never said Pikmim 4 was in development but a new Pikmim game.  This is probably what he was referring to.

well, yeah but i was responding to a comment. He said "Pikmin 4" and i'm saying this is not pikmin 4, it's a spin off.

That doesn't prove that this isn't the Pikmin game Miyamoto is working on as he gave no details, we just assume it'll be a true Pikmin game. He did specifically call it Pikmin 4 but that's just an easily changeable name, it's even possible he only called it that to hype us up. In any event, it's unlikely we'll see a true Pikmin game next year now.

Where's your proof?

I don't recall the rumor exactly, but back when it broke that Pikmin was essentially completed, did anyone ever actually call it 'Pikmin 4'?

Or was that just the conclusion we all jumped to?

It's very possible that they just said something along the lines of: 'The next Pikmin game is close to completion', but were indeed talking about this 3DS game, while we all jumped to 'Pikmin 4' because Pikmin had been homeconsole only action RTS until that point.

So I think the dissappointment is less about this being Pikmin 4 or not, but about the fact that this could be the Pikmin game Miyamoto was referring to and that there is no Pikmin 4 actually coming for NX at launch.

Well I don't know maybe it's a 2d action RTS and Nintendo is trying to innovate the series a bit. So there's a chance it could be Pikmim 4.

that's ok and all but I was specifically responding to a comment that said "pikmin 4" I said this is not pikmin 4, it's a spin off. I never said "this is not the pikmin 4 game that they were supposedly developing"

All these scores are much higher than expected. I would give it a low score, a quite low score.

Skyward on the wii U is interesting - assuming it uses the regular controller and not motion controller.
Mario party game would have been interesting on the Wii U.
The Mario sports 3ds game looks like what the Mario sports game on the Wii U SHOULD have been,
And several Wii U Ports.

Oh and of course Amiibo's, Amiibo's, and did i say Amiibo's?

The Pikmin game looks interesting, but probably too easy and simple. Basically a more advanced version of lemmings.

Mario Party is on Wii U. This was a 3ds so you shouldn't have expected Mario sports for Wii u. Pikmim looked challenging from what they showeed.

He probably ment what I said though, but I guess we'll have to wait for him to answer. :L

Not THIS mario party though. There is a very big difference between the "drive it the car" and the "free style" one they showed. They free style one looks quite fun but would require people to have their own 3ds to play along and with typically involve people looking down at their 3ds. It isn't condusive to a"party game" like it would be on the Wii U.

The Wii u gota mario sports game. It was a poorly done shell of a game. Where as the 3ds game has a lot to offer and it feels like that is what they SHOULd have put on the Wii U version. Simply it feels like they made a really cheap Wii U version of the game, because they were working on the 3ds version that looks much better.

I didn't find much of what was shown as challenging. It struck me as a leemings puzzle game. It depends if they actually let you control all the colors or not. If it is just "here is the red section" and "here is the blue section" that isn't challenging.

The game for Wii U was Mario Tennis not Mario Sports. They are two different series, so the Wii U never really got a Mario Sports game.

The 3 Pikmim with different abilities looked good and the level design also looked like it could be challenging but we will have to wait and see when the game comes out.

It was better than I expected. 8/10. Wii U ports surprised me, and since I already have those games it's whatever. It also confused me about NX...

Also, Pikmin 1 (Wii) is out on the Wii U VC. If you get it, you'll get a 50% discount on Skyward Sword. Or vice versa.

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

It was a pretty standard run of the mill Nintendo Direct, only this time focused on one console. Pretty much what I expected. Pokemon looks good, I'll pass on the Wii U ports, enjoyed the segments with Bill and Reggie, Ever Oasis looks cool as do a number of other titles, and the new Zelda amiibo are beautiful [face_drooling]

6.5/10 ("Okay"). Great to have a Direct again, it's been too long.

Bets:

1. If the Wii U sells closer to 10 million LTD by 1/3/2015 I win. If it sells closer to 9.5 million LTD by 1/3/2015 OfficerRaichu15 wins (winner gets 2 weeks of avatar control)--Lost.
