Forums - Gaming - A game like "The Last of Us" should be on the NX.

I also think it won't do well unless it somehow REALLY differentiates itself from Dragon's Dogma.   DD was a pretty good game that few people cared about.

Replace the pawns with the dragon and it looks to be practically the same thing.

I wasn't the biggest fan of The Last of Us, but the more games and variety on a console the better, so I agree with OP.

Normally, I shrug at obvious digs like these, but when it hits the multiple button, yeah. Let's not take this thread into the ground, please. :)

It's an obvious joke more like, my first post should of made that clear. I do enjoy cinematic games, Uncharted is amazing, TLOU was good, and Metal Gear Solid will be missed.

Wrong thread?

I just don't think that would work well.

They would need several of them to support each other. People aren't buying a console for a "one of". Once they are done with one, they want to move onto another and another.

I personally think Scalebound on the xbox one won't do well. They have no real JRPG before scalebound, and I can't expect many afterwards.

Where as the xbox 360 had blue dragon, lost odyssey, Tales of vesperia, Eternal sonata etc etc.

Right thread, missing original quote.

I don't want to point fingers but aren't Nintendo supporters vocal critics of "cinematic" games ? I remember all that disdain against these type of games all too clear ...

Nintendo won't learn to evolve by listening to their vocal minority. Then again, Nintendo doesn't really let anyone's input stop them from doing what they want. So it's more of Nintendo wanting to do what it wants. It'll probably create one someday, regardless of its fanbase. They've already shown that they don't give a fuck about what their fans think -which can be good or bad depending on the generation or game v.v XD

How about no. Unless Nintendo really has the urge to make something like the last of us they shouldn't pump something out just for the sake of diversifying the line up. We don't need a "me too" version of the last of us and that kind of thinking is how we end up with mediocre wannabe series like killzone and PlayStation all-stars

Cinematic games are ruining the industry?

Not... I dunno... DLC, Microtransactions, fee-to-play, season passes, FPS multiplayer fodder, glitchy launches, over-hyped games, etc.?

At least over-hyped games are subjective. Microtransactions, DLC, and other bogus are clearly damaging us.

As for F2P, it's okay if it's mobile. Honestly, I could care less. As long as it doesn't touch consoles, we're good.(Exception is F2P where you aren't strangled to pay to have any chance of improving).

12/22/2016- Made a bet with Ganoncrotch that the first 6 months of 2017 will be worse than 2016. A poll will be made to determine the winner. Loser has to take a picture of them imitating their profile picture.

I would be fine with a mix of different genres, but hopefully not too many cinematic games :p

For whatever reason the mideval fantasy design trope seems to work well for Nintendo. Who knows why.

I would suggest maybe something akin to an action oriented take on Fire Emblem/Zelda but perhaps go a little darker/edgier with it.

Uncharted took a while to gain traction with Playstation owners even as well, it's not like the first game was an immediate hit, it was more of a slow burn, and then the second one really broke through, but Nintendo is not that patient with new IP.

Either that or I'd suggest just buying the James Bond franchise rights, since no game developer has them anymore. I imagine at this point Nintendo could scoop in and grab them for cheap. Character wise he's a good fit for Nintendo, undeniably "cool", but not so violent that parents disaprove (because everyone's parents grew up on Bond too). That's kind of the balance Uncharted strikes as well. Plus it looks like the movie rights might be moving away from Sony, so that's another plus for Nintendo, lol.
