Forums - Nintendo - I have Commodore 64 games in VC Shop

So I woke up and went to play Wii Pro Evo (what a game but thats a different subject) and noticed new scrolling icon for Wi Shop.  As there was no message I looked at the Shop anyway out of interest and there's 2 Commodore 64 games available, these are International Karate + (I used to love that game) and some scrolling shooter I think.

Hopefully they will release Jumpman and Jumpman Jr... I thought they were Nintendo games, but apparently these were not the Mario games which followed Donkey Kong and Mario Bros. although Mario was named Jumpman at first.

Undoubtedly, this will be moving on to other regions.

And the Jumpman games for the Atari and Commodore 64 were merely inspired by Donkey Kong.

I guess, compared to console games, it must be hard to buy the rights to all those old computer games because there was no gate keeper company that took the particulars of all the game publishers and also because the companies often were smaller, often just 3 or 4 people with good ideas hacking away. I guess that's part of the reason why these C64 games sell for €5 and not €4 like the Master System games.

Personally I can't remember any C64 games I would like to play again, but I can certainly remember a whole bunch of Amiga games. I hope we will get those eventually.

Does anybody know if International Karate already has a history of rereleases on other systems or if this is a VC exclusive? Ah, I found something on Wikipedia:

"In 2002, following the retro-gaming trend, Ignition released IK+ for the Game Boy Advance and PlayStation, both of which are faithful to the Amiga/Atari ST version."

"In 2004 IK was be "re-released" as a title on the C64 Direct-to-TV."

Europe will also get Mario Kart Wii and Wii Fit before the US.
