Yeah, this my main concern. I want a good quality screen. If Nintendo intend to be able to push this as a viable tablet, hopefully they'll go that bit further the screen.

Is 720p really that bad? My 8in. tablet has a 720p screen, and so does my 4.7in. phone. I see no difference in clarity between the two.

Hopefully Nintendo goes with IPS, or at the very least a TFT display that can compare to what Samsung puts in their low-end tablets.

The resolution (720p) for a 6-inch display is more than fine.

I just hope Nintendo will chose a decent quality screen, you're right even cheap Samsung lower end tablets have nice displays, hopefully NX is similar.

Comment right on the money!

These people on this site can't be THAT stupid can they? Games on the XB1 and PS4 barely hit 1080p, and when they are at that resolution, frame rates suffer, and usually its just upscaled graphics. And we're talking a 6.2 inch screen, not a 60 inch display! You won't be able to tell the difference. I would rather have 720p a high frames per second experience with bells and whistles, than a compromised 1080 one. And YES, I'ma  professional in this business. you will NOT see the difference between 1080 and 720 at that screen size. You guys are idiots!

from neogaf, here's the comparison for those who don't understand.

So many leaks its borderline incontinent.

A lot of you must not use anything portable because 720p is actually good.

Another interesting thing is the 6.2-inch screen size when held vertically can fit a 3DS top screen (regular size 3DS) pretty much perfectly.

That means if the NX has a vertical mode like this:

The 3DS screen size fits perfectly.
I wonder if Nintendo choose this screen size on purpose with the possibility of some day having 3DS games on the Wii U tablet or using the same screen size for a future portable tablet.

So it's a handheld, not a console nor a hybrid

The rumors have made it kind of clear it is not a home console. If it is a hybrid (which seems to be loosely used around these parts) then how it will display on televisions has not been discussed. The current rumor here (which I do not believe, for the record) is that the hand held screen is 720p. That does not mean the console is locked at 720p on televisions (if it is a hybrid).

At no point has this thing really looked like a hybrid. People in denial have looked to call it a hybrid to give themselves a chance to compare it to home consoles, but the truth is, from the Eurogamer rumors forward, everything seems to point at this console being a hand held that can hook up to a television. Not a home console, and thus far, not a true hybrid either. Of course, this is all subject to change when Nintendo actually speaks about the console but do not allow popular opinion to sway you from what this console (as far as these rumors are concerned) really is.

What exactly is a true hybrid?

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

Got tired of being led on by rumors and bought a Xbox One S instead. You took too long Nintendo. Too damn long.
