How close are these? real? madeup? shipped? discuss.

 

Basically PS4: 52M  ,  XB1: 29M is what Nvidia is saying.

X1 29m install base, no way and not even close. We will never know consumer sales, only shipped to retail numbers.

The only place I've seen these exact numbers is a projection made by some company for the end of the current fiscal year. Also, I wouldn't trust most of the things Nvidia says in their presentations. I'm not saying they lie, but they certainly mislead by cherry picking, which might not line up with the general reality.

I love how they compare individual pieces of hardware to an entire category of devices - way to fudge stats :)

Not sure where they came from, but seems like they had to make sure and get them out before XBOS, Scorpio, PSNEO, and possibly even NX boost console sales over the next 36 months.

With the new scalable console platforms, gaming PC's are going to have hard times ahead. Nvidia got it wrong, and they are trying to scrape together everything they can,but they don't have to work with. Once we get laptop/tablet versions of the PS4 and XBO, they will have lost nearly every opertunity they have to compete on a mass scale. Hope for them, they do well with their auto industry ideas.



Stop hate, let others live the life they were given. Everyone has their problems, and no one should have to feel ashamed for the way they were born. Perhaps those are their estimates for end of year sales, hence the YoY comparison beneath them.

Yeah, some company's projection. Didn't they first show up in that interview with Greenberg about Xbox not haviing distinct console generations anymore?

The end of 2016 numbers should be 53 mill for PS4 and 27 mill for Xbox One if they follow the sales of 2015 as tracked by VGC.

Gaming PC's aren't going to have hard times ahead or die to "scalable consoles", let's get that out the way before that turns into another mythical "PC gaming is dying" meme again.

I also don't think you want to wish them well since what theyw ant works against your dream "utopia" gaming world where gaming PC's and PC gaming is nothing and console gaming somehow becomes the PC.
