Forums - Gaming - FINAL FANTASY XV Master Version Gameplay (53 min video)

God I LOVE the music. Shimomura is a goddess of music.
The game looks like something I'd have a lot of fun playing. I just wish that when you do a hunt, there wasn't a marker telling you where to find the monster you're hunting, part of the fun of the hunts is finding the monster imo. The combat looked really fun, though it's hard to judge it without playing it myself.
I love that you can change the clothes of the characters and that you can customize your chocobo and the chocobo races looked so fun and there's fishing, that's really cool. And the part where that giant bird wakes up was so epic XD. That city they showed at the end was really pretty. This video actually got me more hyped for the game than I already was. Game looks like a really epic adventure. I don't like old bearded Noctis tho.

Things I don't like

-The sheer level of bro. Seriously, do the character really need to constantly high five and take pictures? If ever a game needed some female party members it was this one. The bromance is through the roof on this one.

So fucking true. This is the most "dudebro" a game has ever been lol

What does MASTER version even mean?

There are far too many teamwork moments during fights and most of them feel forced and some of them are just plain silly. The combat isn't flashy like PG games, nor it's tight like Souls, more importantly, the camera angles get tedious far too often.

The dialogue is cheesy and made me cringe, wasn't worthy of the accompanying epic music at all.

The girl in a tight bra has an incredibly annoying accent. Speaking of voices, the voice-acting is horrendous and stale. It's not dynamic, there is no depth to it, it's not 3D, it feels like all of them are speaking directly into a microphone, all of it feels as if it is taped over the video. They better improve the mixing.

Graphically, it needs some serious polish.

The good:
we finally get to see them out of those ridiculous outfits we've been seeing for 10 years. Driving is actually kinda entertaining, although, Noctis friends can be too talkative. The night time section looked interesting.

Overall, I am not impressed, I am not disappointed.

Master version is the version of the game that is playable from beginning to end. Tabata said this is the version that was supposed to release on Sept 30. But he thought it wasn't perfect enough and he didn't want to trouble people from downloading a huge patch so they're just going to optimize and add more to game until it's perfect enough for him.

They removed the hold the button down to attack thing. Immediate points just for that. Its a teleport now.

I'm still worried the combat will get repetitive and stale fast, but the game is looking better now.

You still hold down the O button to do consecutive attacks.

But don't confuse the consecutive attacks to being the equivalent of multiple "Attack" commands in older FF games. It's not. If you take a look at the damage each hit deals in the Demo, you'll notice that a full string of attacks is more like the equivalent of one single Attack in FFX.
The difference being that in FFX, once you chose Attack, you'll simply deal the damage, and that's that.
There's more to it here. In FFXV, you'll have the choice to customize your combo attack on the fly for more, or less, damage. You may for example want to go for less damage (cut the combo short and evade, or ignore switching to a slower harder hitting weapon as a combo ender) to avoid an incoming attack from behind. This gives interesting depth to the combat system, and I'm looking forward to seeing how it unfolds in the full game.

I seem to have misread it then. Thought the Blitz was the teleport.

Well... i take my previous post back. I'm no longer interested again. Boring combat. If there was control over every slash i could've tolerated it. I don't enjoy holding down the button and auto-attacking.

Here's a message from Wan Hazmer, the Lead game designer of FFXV about the one hour footage:

-The English dub. Some of the characters sound really good, pretty much like I would have expected them to sound. In particular I like the English VA for Gladiolus, Prompto, Cid, Cor, and Iris. However, some of the English VA is cringy as heck, particularly Ignis, Noctis, and Ardyn (red haired bad guy).

Also, this is what you get for complaining about Noctis' deeper voice he had originally lol. That at least gave him some semblance of authority of his tiny royal highness, now he just sounds like the other guys' bitch

What have they done to Prompto ? He screams like a scared 10 years old girl in every scene ! I liked him so much before this trailer...
I think the game looks ok, I hope the VA can be turned off and I've seen some foot-ground compenetrations that really sticked out to me (which is strangesince I usually don't care about this stuff)

Edit: also notice how the banner on the FFXV channel still says "30th September" lmao

There is, with the analog stick. Holding circle is contextual attack where the result depends on what you're doing with the stick (and which weapon is equipped). Easiest way to think of it compared to how most games usually do it is that instead of switching from circle to triangle to do an heavy attack you keep the circle but flick the stick to the left, where "left stick = heavy attack". That goes for step attacks too, quick dodges, etc

Old noctis looks really cool

You don't like the older look?  I think he looks way better older and id much prefer playing the whole game with him looking like that.
