Pretty big drop, im hoping its just that PS4 launch overshadowed GT6 and that Sport & the inevitable GT7 can bring it back up to GT1-5 levels.

GT6 released after the ps4 launched. These numbers are pretty incredible.
GT sport is a glorified prologue imo and it will sell 5-8m. GT7 should get those 10m+ sales.
I think the reason is that 6 was just a repacked 5, from what I remember reading.
While the numbers are good, it is somewhat average for the franchise.Hopefully newer releases on the franchise pick up in sales.
My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

If they had gotten 5 out earlier, then released 6 only 2 years after, it would have done much better. Still, FAR from a flop.
GT 5 probably made a shit load of money. I mean, the production costs were already paid by the GT5 Prologue sales and probably Sony already made profit there. The GT 5 sales were pure profit for Sony.

Yep, like i said, i hope its just that PS4 launch overshadowed it but i am worried since the racing genre seems to be declining quite a bit as a whole.
Forza, Need for Speed, Dirt, F1 have all seen pretty large drops compared to previous installments. PS3+360 sold about 140 million units of racing software while PS4+XBO is currently around 20 million.
To me it seems like the racing genre isnt doing so hot on the new consoles.

Remember the days when they said Halo 5 bombed and it sold the same amount in alot less time.
People just love to claim failures when they have no idea how much companies rake in with these games.
