Sigh. I know the people who are throwing this tantrum are a small minority in the large, diverse population of video game fans. But episodes like this demonstrate how far the gaming community still needs to go. Do we want to be labeled petulant man-children forever? It's time to grow up.

It's not like any other fandom in this world is in any way more mature. No matter how much gaming enthusiasts grow up they will always be labeled as children.

The game isn't even an exclusive. I guess some people didn't get the message.

What if they are giving low scores as part of a social experiment to show how bad is the user score system on Metacritic?

if people havent figured out how bad the user score is by now, there is no helping them

It seems I have been hit with the pre-order bug. The tutorial quest glitched when I finally gave in to the nagging "redeem your bonus content" and now I have no way to get anti matter. Stuck in a system with 4 planets, infinite universe my arse.

All ships for trade come with an empty hyper drive, the galactic market doesn't stock it, I tried buying it from 30 different ships at least, none have it, no one on the planets sells it, blue print to make it only shows up in the second star system according to any online help.

Verdict after 8 hours, 3/10. Tiny game, nothing to do but collect words. I do not feel like starting over and grind all that stuff back again.

DO NOT USE THE PRE-ORDER BONUS, DO NOT ENTER THE CODE, BURN IT

Have you read his review? Is not and idiot review, is actually reasonable and well argumented, so why should his site be down for that?

Ask the morons who are doing this not me xD

Btw sterling feed on negativity, dude made a carrer trashing devs, publishers , being annoying and a stupid asshole. I dont even know how he got to cover this industry and had a job. Never seen anything professional from him, even when he is right on jimquisition he acts like a idiot. So i am not reading his reviews lol

I'd argue Jim is the closest thing the gaming industry has to investigative journalism. Despite the ridiculous persona.

If you actually follow his content, you'll notice that he has a lot more positive content than one might think (he has a show with the expressed purpose of creating positivity around select, deserving steam greenlight games for example) and his rewiews are generally carefully thought out and raise valid points.

He is far from a clickbait rewiewer that just does things to get a rise out of people. And while his negative coverage seems to be what he's famous for, seeing that he mostly covers problems with the industry on his jimquisition, that's far from the only thing he does. And even if he 'trashes' things he usually presents a well balanced and well argumented viewpoint underneath the cum- and pissjokes.

Everyday Headline News: Self-entitled Morons have Temper Tantrum on Internet

(And I like NMS, but I wouldn't score it above 6/10)

The review score doesn't surprise me.  I guessed a 65 avg.  It's going to be one of those exclusives this gen that gets either absolute hate or love like some of the others.

I own the game and so far I enjoy it but I can't even come up with my own score as I've barely scratched the surface of the game.  It's massive.

That's the problem I have with Jim's review. While other reviewers are trying their best to play enough of the game to write a proper review, he releases the first review and gets all the clicks from people eager to read anything about the game. He may be right, but negative people, too, are sometimes right. If you're negative all the time, you're bound to be right at some point. That doesn't mean you reached the conclusion properly.

The way I see it this dude didn't play the game long enough to release this review but he knows damn well that this is perfect for him. More clicks, more exposure, more people talking about him, the haters (people who haven't even played the game) find some ammunition. Couldn't have worked better for him.

I believe the entire point he was making in the review is that, despite its size and "variety" due to procedural generation, it's all show.

That interactions with each world and creatures are the same, despite their variations, so it doesn't take anywhere near as long as promised to experience No Man's Sky.

That's what I read from the review anyway, and was my biggest worry about the game, due to its focus on prcedural generation.

Why the fuck is wrong with kids these days. An internet critic doesn't like the same thing you like? Who gives a shit? People are way too sensitive about everything these days.

Yeah, I get all that it most certainly could be the case, but I have my doubts. Why exactly did it him so little time to play the game, write and post the review first while all the other reviewers were still playing the game?

For all we know he played just enough to get an idea about the game to post his review first and capitalize on everyone clicking on it.

It's also very likely that he missed out on some really important things that happen in the game when you play a bit more. Some planets amy feel very same-y and others could be vastly different. If you play for a limited time and are out of luck, you may only visit too similar planets.

Of course, I haven't played the game so I have no idea if that's really the case. I'm just wary of his decision to post a review of such a massive game so soon. What kept all the other reviwers from posting theirs?
