Actually i was surprised the score was that high. I read Jims rewiews once in a while and he is one of the critics that use the full 1-10 scale, so a 5 is quite literally mediocre. After reading it I expected him to give it more of 3-4 as he really seemed to dislike it.

Nothing to throw a tantrum over imo, but it being the first rewiew on metacritic puts this in a new light....

5/10 is quite literally average*

Whatever floats your boat. Average is the more neutral term I guess. 'Mediocre' is what Jim himself uses as a discriptor for 5/10 rewiews though, wich is probably why I jumped to it.

Well NMS does not feel like a complete game. Só much repetition and few action.

It should have followed the Minecraf ir the Ark model of long alphas and betas.

Poor Jim "Modern Warfare 3 9.5/10 Supreme" Sterling!!

Just kidding, people take game reviews way too seriously.

I didn't read his review yet 5/10 seems fair atm.

The game has already crashed 5 times on me and now there is a game braking bug with the pre-order ship.
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2016-08-10-how-to-avoid-no-mans-skys-allegedly-game-breaking-glitch#comment-6281432 I caved in and redeemed the pre order bonus as the game will not shut up about it. Hopefully I'm in the clear as I did already build the hyper drive before trading the ship. However I'm still stuck in the starter system without anti matter and no way to craft it.

I do have a much bigger ship now with 34 cargo slots, handles exactly the same and is just as vulnerable as the tiny start ship. Although it's only vulnerable when you try to attack another ship, sentinels will make quick work of you. You can boost straight into an asteroid without any damage, however you lose a bit of shield when you fly into a tiny resource rock. Does not make sense.

I just landed on a lush green moon and encountered the first wildlife. The magic is there, the game play is a grind.

I'm legitimately disturbed by how many people chose the "he deserved it" option on the poll. Like, REALLY disturbed.

What does that mean, exactly? What do you suggest we do? And will that have any effect on the way the video game community behaves?

This sounds like "thoughts and prayers" on facebook. They achieve nothing.

I say the less attention we pay to them, the better.

Lead by example? Disavow those who engage in infantile and destructive ways? Hold each other accountable?

I donno, something other than "nothing."

I'm genuinely curious. Do you think leading by example would have any effect on people who are willing to attack a reviewer and take his site down just for writing a negative review of a game even they haven't played enough to know if it's that good, which would in some twisted way make Jim is the devil?

Those people are beyond saving. It's like trying to use arguments in the youtube comment section. It simply doesn't work. Same with disavowing them. As if they care. The more attention we pay to them, the more they feel they have accomplished something.

Doing "nothing" can be better than "something". Same way less can be more.

Ah jeez. Mediocre should be an unenjoyable mess 3/10 or worse. This is another problem with reviews.

'This game doesnt manage to be spectacular in any way. You will enjoy it for the first few hours until you realise how dull, repetitive and uninspiring It really is.' 7/10 wut

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

Wow, 27 people say he deserved it. Wish polls were public so we could all see who to never take seriously again.

he already played it enough from last night and made a review already? i did not read it but he loves to bait people soo i dont care....

But people should ignore and not act like idiots also, its idiots acting like idiots because of one idiot.

Have you read his review? Is not and idiot review, is actually reasonable and well argumented, so why should his site be down for that?

All they've done is made his review forbidden fruit.

Now I MUST read it.
