Forums - Nintendo - I really don't like the new computer AI in Brawl.

I'm wondering if Vagabond is getting this from Classic Mode's final match before Master Hand... because that really IS a 3 on 1 with friendly fire lol.

My typical strategy is to target whoever has the most lives or the highest score, and then I will switch my target if I notice that someone has a damage of over 100% if they're nearby, or over 150% I'll go after them regardless.

I wish you could have had an option for sliding strategy to decide what is most important to the AI, basically allowing you to create personalities. That's what I had originally envisioned when I had first started envisioning Brawl.

Ranged attacks more <-------[]-----> Melee attacks more
Goes after Leader <---------[]------> Picks off stragglers
Aerial attacks <-------[]-------> Ground attacks

Spams attacks <----[]----> varies attacks

Edge guards always <-----[]------> Edge guards only if no other enemies to fight
Override focus for high percentage targets <------[]-----> ignore high percentage unless opportune
focuses on any item <----[]----> ignores items

Grabs often <-----[]-----> Grabs rarely
Blocks often <-----[]-----> blocks rarely
dodges often <-----[]-----> dodges rarely

and also allow you to save these settings in profiles like how you can save control setups to names, you can also set up computer AI to names, so you can create "people" to fight against that have certain strategies and such

Seppukuties is like LBP Lite, on crack. Play it already!

Currently wrapped up in: Half Life, Portal, and User Created Source Mods
Games I want: (Wii)Mario Kart, Okami, Bully, Conduit,  No More Heroes 2 (GC) Eternal Darkness, Killer7, (PS2) Ico, God of War1&2, Legacy of Kain: SR2&Defiance

My Prediction: Wii will be achieve 48% market share by the end of 2008, and will achieve 50% by the end of june of 09. Prediction Failed.

 Hey kinda like Fire Pro Wrestling, that would be awesome.

Sorry Naz, you're still wrong. I have a replay too. Not of me running back and forth on eldin bridge, but practically standing still, occasionally fighting back, and the bias is extremely obvious.

I start on the bottom, and everyone instantly jumps to the bottom, to attack me, the stay all over me, get me in a corner beat the crap out of me, then a stopwatch appears at the top tier so they all run up their together (not attacking one another) one of them grabs it, then they all jump back down to where I am to resume the fight. They will fight each other more if you don't make them chase you, but they try to stay ontop of you and keep you in the center of their attacks, and you are definitely their target.

This isn't some crazy theory I just came up with, it's an obvious bias the computer has that everyone can see in normal games, not just running back and forth. I posted this here and on gamefaqs and the response was an overwhelming "yeah it's really obvious" or "I'm glad I'm not the only one that noticed". I don't know why you have the incessant need to defend all things brawl, it's a great game, we get it. But it is possible for it to have a flaw. The computer specifically targets humans over other computers.

You can find me on facebook as Markus Van Rijn, if you friend me just mention you're from VGchartz and who you are here.

Oh yeah, and I can get into games that have little or no lag either, but just because it's possible doesn't mean that it's normal. You don't have to look far to find lag stories in brawl. It is based entirely on people's connections, yes. But how many people have fantastic connections or are 200 miles away from each other? Just because it's possible to have completely lag free games doesn't mean that's the status quo that most people are experiencing. It's commonplace enough that wifiwars, one of the major competitive brawl sites in conjunction with smashboards, actually wrote a guide on how to change your tactics for online play compared to offline play. It's a commonplace thing.

^^^Hmm I wonder if me, you, and sc94597 leaving our browser on vgchartz had something too do with the lag we had with the toon link match......Yea I find that you gotta change your timing when playing online lag or no lag it seems slowed down or delayed a bit compare to 4players brawl offline.

I don't think so, I didn't have my browser on. I always shut off any other computers internet access when I play brawl online to make sure nothing else is using up resources.

And sorry, Naz is I'm being harsh. But you ALWAYS come to brawls rescue if somebody says anything remotely negative about it. I'm not trying to be harsh, but this is something very obvious to everyone, same with lag. It exists, it's impossible (or at least very difficult) to deny.
