I doubt it. People thought that would happen with the regular PS4 as well...

The rumored are specs are more than enough to accheive it. I'd take that over upscaled 4K 30fps any day.

We will get games that have 1080p60fps of course. Theyre called Uncharted 4 Remastered, Bloodborne Remastered, Dark Souls III Remastered, Fallout 4 Remastered etc...;)

I was thinking of selling the ps4 now so the upgrade wouldn't cost much but is the ps4 price really going to drop that much after the announcement. Maybe I'll get $50 less for it but fuck it I'm not going any length of time without a ps4.

But if I do get the neo I'll have to be very impressed with psvr when I finally get to demo it if I'm to buy that this year.

Money ain't an issue but I like to budget all the same. But the neo better have the ability to run the psvr games much better than the regular. Not that I'd not enjoy the regular but if I'm paying for a premium ps4 I'd expect a premium experience.

And hopefully uncharted 4 runs at 60fps in the campaign on it. Now that would be a sight to behold.

Kinda hyped, not gonna lie :D

If it's rumored to be a "successor" and not a hardware revision, that explains why they didn't show it at E3. Which most likely means, it wont' be released this year or even early next year. Maybe they're skipping the hardware revision and targeting Scorpio to not face backlash of having to buy a hardware revision AND a new console in such a small time frame. But that's just what ifs. Either way, I'm hyped for this.

Sony have already talked about the Neo and how it's a ps4 with higher specs and how it will work being sold alongside the standard. They've also spoke out about being surprised about MS announcing hardware way before launch. This points to announcement and hardware launch soon after.

Just what-ifs. It's most likely not a successor, I just based the theory on the terminology of the linked article. You're most likely right.  Sony also noted several times that there may not be a PS5.

I really hope they go with 1080/60fps with Ultra settings for games.

this is way better than struggling for 4k.

From the Digital Foundry PS Neo benchmark tests, the NEO can run games at native 4k/30fps no problem but I'd think the game would look better at Ultra settings with 1080p than 4k with like Mid/high settings.

yeah plus mid/high at 4k is just sharper (depending on the game and optimization), but ultra settings running at 1080p is way better. Obviously, they are not going to do that because sony is in the 4k race with ms. at least it should have solid 30 fps because this generation is a mess so far in terms of steady framerate.

I'm eager to see the price! Would be kinda weird for the Neo to be $400 while the regular is still $350, and $500 would just be too much as Sony should well know.
