I agree it's a worrisome development. Often it means there's something worth obscuring from consumers until all those pre-orders have been locked in.

Who knows what's delaying the NMS reviews, however. Could be that critics want to take enough time to do the game justice, or that publications received copies late, or that there's a strict embargo. Who knows.

In any case, as consumers, we should demand reviews early and often so we can make more informed decisions.

Just wait like me. I would jump on it if it was 20-30$. Played so many explore/develop games lately and elited dangerous killed my hype for this game.

Non-biased.  So are you saying people who haven't played it reviewed it?  Because that's biased.  Playing a game and not liking it and reviewing it as such is not bias.  It's an opinion you don't agree with.

No reviews is usually a bad sign, the game doesn't look particularly great to me, but it does seem interesting.

So I'm still optimistic it should be a pretty good game. Look forward to seeing reviews.

Been watching streams of the game. Game looks okay but not $60 okay.

They can, and have done so before, with rewiews based on codes/copys they provided before launch. Assassins creed unity for example, was famously embargoed until after initial release day.

They can't do anything about people who bought the game on launch day, or otherwise got their hands on an early copy (by retailers breaking street date for example), but those are not going to be in deph rewiews.

I strongly disagree with this.While you should buy a game if you are interested in it, reviews serve as a way to gauge your interest in a game, to see if the game has the qualities you seek.If the reviewers say the game is bad, there is a reason a game is bad and you should spend your money elsewhere.And thats especially true today, with the quantity(and quality) of games available.Reviewers do reviews for a living.Dont dismiss them so easily.

Now to the OP at hand, yeah its a terrible practice.But thats not the reviewers fault, since it seems it had an important day one patch.The one that is at fault here is Hello Games.It is worrisome when this happens, because it seems they have something to hide, as many users has said.And before someone says:if they needed more time, why not delay the game?I mean, it was already delayed several times, and they even had one last delay to finish up details.Why not give it a few extra days then?It all sound fishy.

Then gamers shouldn't buy the game till more information is available.
